For more than 20 years, Warriors fans have waited for the beloved book series to receive a major adaptation beyond comics and fan projects. Despite the franchise’s popularity, hopes for an official film, TV series, or game release have come and gone over the years, leaving readers to wonder if Firestar’s world would ever make the jump beyond the page.
That finally changes this fall. Alongside the recent announcement that a Warriors animated series is coming to Disney Plus, fans also got confirmation that the franchise is expanding in another major way. The long-running novels are officially headed to modern gaming platforms, marking one of the biggest moments in the series’ history since the first book was published in 2003.
Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest is being developed by Trailmark Games (Cruis’n Blast, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants, and The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival).
Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest Releases in Fall 2026
Revealed with a new trailer shared on the official Warrior Cats Instagram account, Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest is a turn-based RPG launching this fall for Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Instead of following Firestar’s story directly, players will create their own cat, choose a Clan, and set off on an original adventure through the forests, rivers, plains, and swamps that fans of the fantasy world know well. In the trailer, Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest offered a first look at gameplay (including turn-based battles), with players fighting snakes, badgers, and dogs alongside members of their Clan.

Exploration appears to be a major part of the experience as well, with cats climbing trees, hunting prey, and roaming the wilderness. Familiar faces from the novels also make an appearance, including Brightheart and Cloudtail, though it’s still unclear how much this fantasy game will interact with the books’ established story. Fans can expect more of that information in the coming weeks and months, since it releases in Fall 2026, meaning there’s only a small, but important, marketing window.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the Warrior Cats‘ first officially licensed game, even if it is the biggest. Warrior Cats: Ultimate Edition has been available on Roblox for years, with additional content still in development, while a separate mobile game is also planned for 2027. In other words, fans are eating well right now.
Of course, the biggest question is how everything lands. The Disney show, Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, and mobile game all have to hit that important cross-section between gamer and Warrior Cats fans, but at the very least, it’s definitely speaking the right language. Plenty of games based on cats exist, but Warrior Cats? That’s its own thing.
