Collision Course – Arc Raiders Quest Guide

Arc Raiders’ Riven Tides update adds a handful of quests focused on the newest map so that you can get acclimated to how it plays. But as expected, a few quests will send you to take down some older enemies, such as Collision Course, which asks you to kill a Comet and obtain a Comet Igniter. Luckily, this isn’t terribly difficult to do once you know how to approach these potentially deadly ARC.

Before loading into a match to kill a Comet and take its Comet Igniter, it’s a good idea to bring an augment sporting a safe pocket. Once you score the Comet Igniter, make sure you extract safely with it. If you die without it in a safe pocket, you’ll need to head back into a map and repeat the process.

Whether you’re trying to knock out Collision Course or need some Comet Igniters for crafting or projects, here’s how to get your hands on them.

How to get a Comet Igniter in Arc Raiders

To get a Comet Igniter in Arc Raiders, you’ll have to outsmart a Comet and kill it before it reaches you and explodes. That’s because Comet Igniters won’t drop if a Comet gets too close to you and blows up–meaning you have to actually kill it to score this item.

Comets are commonly found rolling around across every map, occasionally even indoors, making it easy to track them down. The hard part is taking them out. Killing them before they roll over and offer up some shrapnel to your face requires planning ahead or using fast-acting grenades. With that in mind, avoid situations like the one in the photo below, where you can be trapped in close quarters with a Comet. If this happens, it will almost certainly explode and send you packing back to Sprenaza before you can say, “I love Scrappy.”

Seeker Grenades can be a great option for dealing with these nuisances. A few of them will do the trick very quickly, taking a lot of the strategy out of the encounter. If you don’t have grenades, however, your best bet is to get some height somewhere in the area where the Comet can’t reach you. Then, use a heavy weapon like an Anvil or Ferro to shoot it a handful of times until it finally explodes. If you get some good shots on its core, that’s even better–but it can be tough to hit while it’s rolling around.

Once you kill a Comet the right way, they’ll leave behind their normal metallic corpse and an additional core. Loot the core to find the Comet Igniter. Each Comet will only drop one of these, so if you’re looking to stock up on them to help you craft something, be prepared to do some farming. This Arc is plentiful, at least, so it shouldn’t take you too long either way, if you’re practicing proper strategies.
