Developer Pearl Abyss has exciting news for Crimson Desert players, especially those using Intel GPUs. Released on March 19, 2026, Crimson Desert is an action-adventure game that takes players to the war-torn world of Pywel, where mysterious forces and conflicts plague the land. Players must step into the shoes of Kliff as he works to reunite with his comrades and take the fight to the various enemies that threaten peace.
Since its launch, the title has been making waves in the gaming industry. Pearl Abyss reported that Crimson Desert had sold over 2 million copies within 24 hours. Despite this success, the game has been under fire for several issues, such as the game’s complex control scheme, poor optimization, and other gameplay elements. One of players’ biggest criticisms about Crimson Desert is the lack of support for Intel Arc GPUs. Earlier, the developer offered refunds for those who purchased the game expecting Intel GPU compatibility. This left thousands of players unable to access the game, but the developer has now shared a new update on the situation.

Pearl Abyss Is Working on Intel GPU Support for Crimson Desert
On Twitter, Pearl Abyss has announced that it is currently working on compatibility and optimization support to make Crimson Desert playable on Intel Arc GPU systems. The developer states that it’s preparing to deliver a smooth and stable gameplay experience, and asks players for their patience until the support update becomes available. Pearl Abyss has also apologized for the wording in its FAQ, which had previously advised players to consider the refund policy if they planned on playing the game on Intel GPUs. There’s still no release date or timeline for when players can expect this change to arrive, but more details are likely to be shared in the coming weeks. With this move, the developer has addressed another major issue, following the recent Crimson Desert patch that aimed to fix the game’s control issues.
Pearl Abyss’s statement comes after an Intel representative said in an interview with Wccftech that the company had offered hardware and engineering assistance to the developer. It was revealed that Intel reached out to Pearl Abyss several times over the past few years to test, validate, and provide optimization support for Intel graphics, while also supplying hardware, drivers, and additional resources. Despite receiving all that support, Crimson Desert remains unplayable on Intel GPUs, and the company is highly disappointed that players using its graphics hardware are unable to enjoy the game.
The Intel representative added that the company is still committed to assisting all studios in delivering the best possible experience through its open tools, documentation, and engineering expertise, and is willing to work closely with Pearl Abyss to bring the game to Intel GPU users in the future. Given that Crimson Desert surpassed 230,000 players on Steam even without Intel GPU support, it could have reached an even larger audience with full compatibility.

Across social media platforms like Reddit and Twitter, the Crimson Desert community has welcomed these changes with open arms, though many find it surprising that Pearl Abyss did not offer day-one support for Intel GPUs despite receiving years of assistance from Intel. However, this is not the only issue that’s being discussed, as the use of generative AI tools in Crimson Desert is also under scrutiny right now. At its launch, players had raised concerns that some assets in the game, such as paintings, looked to be AI-generated, but the developers didn’t confirm anything. Recently, Pearl Abyss has come out and stated that it used certain AI tools to create 2D visual props in the game. The developer has issued an apology and revealed that it plans to replace all the AI assets with future updates. Players are happy to see that the developer is actively listening to the community and making the right calls.
