Crimson Desert Players Are Begging For Mounts To Be Permanent

Crimson Desert Players Are Begging For Mounts To Be Permanent

With Crimson Desert finally out, players are running around the world of Pywell in the hopes of unlocking every available mount–of which there are plenty. Unfortunately, while they’ll all be permanent additions to your mount selection, they aren’t forever rideable, and fans are begging developer Pear Abyss to change this.

Light spoilers for Crimson Desert below.

Pearl Abyss’ massive open world reportedly takes up to two real-world hours to cross on horseback. But as you progress further into the game, you tame several speedier and tougher options like a bear, raptor, and wolf. You can unlock the coveted dragon, but as IGN noted in a March 21 guide, you have to reach Chapter 11 (of 12) before you gain access to a guaranteed dragon unlock.

Once you have the dragon, though, you can’t just use it all the time. According to a March 23 IGN story, the dragon can only be ridden for 15 real-world minutes, and as soon as that timer lapses or it’s killed, the dragon then chills in your mount inventory for 50 real-world minutes. And this is all time that can’t be skipped or sped up.

Players aren’t necessarily happy about this limitation. The hottest post in the game’s subreddit is from fans reporting to Pearl Abyss that all mounts should be “tameable.” They believe that, because mounts were featured so heavily in the game’s marketing materials, it “would be nice” if they were permanent. They also note that some mounts–such as the tiger and raptor–become aggressive after being dismounted, and players say that once mounts are tamed, they should just be tamed. This sentiment is shared across social media, too.

There’s even an alleged report ticket on the game’s official support page that has seen a lot of traction since March 22. However, clicking on the link pulls up an error message saying that the ticket “cannot [be submitted] at this time” and that players should “check the notice” for when it is available and submittable again.

Maybe Pearl Abyss will listen to the mount problem, as the team recently dropped a patch that addressed several issues players had with the game. This includes fixing the controls and simplifying the game, among other necessary and welcomed changes. Pearl Abyss is also aware of the generative AI concerns, saying that AI-generated assets were “unintentionally included” and that “a comprehensive audit” will help them find and replace such assets in future patches.

Crimson Desert is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
