Crimson Desert received another new update in July, this time a smaller patch compared to previous releases focused on improving and stabilizing the experience for players. Since the launch of Crimson Desert back in March, Pearl Abyss has seemingly been a very busy studio, releasing rapid-fire updates for the game that brought fixes, improvements, and more content to the popular open world Action-RPG.
Game support for Crimson Desert has been a very important element for Pearl Abyss, something that has left both those in and out of the community very impressed by. Choosing to react to players rather than set a defined roadmap of post-launch content, Pearl Abyss has been able to quickly address pain points from fans, while also targetting new content that many have felt was lacking or missing entirely. Already, the game has added new endgame content, new activities, features, and improvements to many parts of the game like the control scheme. However, work continues on with a brand-new patch.
The latest update may not be as exciting as previous major Crimson Desert updates, as this one is focused solely on fixing backend problems and other gameplay-related issues that players have been running into. These include rewards not being issued, frame rate drops that could happen in certain environments, rendering issues, as well as gameplay-related problems such as Oongka not correctly following Kliff during some main quests.
Crimson Desert has no shortage of mounts for players to unlock while playing, but unfortunately, some players have run into an issue with certain ones causing the game to crash. This patch attempts to resolve them, specifically with crashes associated with riding a bear mount. In addition, challenges will now correctly be given to players once unlocked, as previously, some noted that they seemed to get stuck or not acknowledged by the game even once the requirement had been met.

In addition to fixing problems, Pearl Abyss has some bigger plans ahead for fans. Firstly, it appears that Crimson Desert could be launching on the Switch 2 in the future, as Pearl Abyss CEO Huh Jin-young addressed a possible port in a recent Q&A session with shareholders. Specifically, it was confirmed that the development team was reviewing if the Switch 2 could handle Crimson Desert and that, as of right now, basic gameplay is playable. There’s still plenty of work left to be done before this could be a possibility, including important optimization and verification that meets the company standard.

However, fans continue to wait for news regarding the game’s future content. Pearl Abyss has previously confirmed major DLC for Crimson Desert, but details have remained scarce for the time being. Will Powers, who is the Director of marketing and PR for Pearl Abyss provided a few additional details, calling the project “DLC” and saying that it will be different from previous updates. Without giving away anything, Powers teases that there’s a “good reason why we’re calling it a DLC.”
