The developers at Pearl Abyss continue their relentless post-launch support of Crimson Desert, as another patch has hit the live servers on April 24, 2026. Whatever shortcomings Crimson Desert had at launch, Pearl Abyss has worked hard to fix in the weeks since, an effort that’s reflected in the game’s glowing reviews on Steam. While light on narrative and character, Crimson Desert makes up for it with a wide open world that has kept players captivated for hundreds of hours.
With over five million copies sold, Crimson Desert‘s success has positioned it as one of the best-selling games of 2026, driven by pre-launch excitement, a strong word-of-mouth, and post-launch approach by Pearl Abyss. Its team hasn’t been idle, constantly searching for feedback from Crimson Desert players, and applying them on an almost weekly basis. For example, a recent Crimson Desert patch fixed the way icons are displayed for fully-explored caves and opened chests on the world map, drastically improving the experience for completionists, and added the much-requested feature to hide melee and ranged weapons.
Crimson Desert Releases Yet Another New Update for April 2026
Pearl Abyss releases another significant April 2026 update for Crimson Desert, adding even more new content to the game.
Crimson Desert Brings Important Hotfixes in 1.04.02 on April 24, 2026
The latest patch for Crimson Desert is 1.04.02. It fixes a plethora of bugs, increases movement speed, and improves on the way the Greymane Camp works, released across all platforms on April 24, 2026. Most notably, it fixes the issue with horse gear not being dyable, and no longer retrieves furniture whenever the player expands their camp in Crimson Desert. The improvement to the Greymane Camp concerns adding a Contribution Shop with Carl, and when relocating the Greymane Camp to Pailune, furniture placed in the house will now carry over as well.
It’s a smaller patch, largely focused on hotfixes, but it speaks to Pearl Abyss’ diligence. While players still have many features on their wishlist for Crimson Desert, the developers have done an admirable job working on adding them in since March 19, 2026. On the other hand, the game’s burgeoning modding community has also joined in the effort, with one mod even going as far as to add a character creator to Crimson Desert.
Patch 1.04.02 also fixed the issue where starting a new game would apply a different difficulty than the one selected. Given that difficulty settings in Crimson Desert were only added on April 23, 2026, it perfectly illustrates the sheer speed of updates that the game is going through. While some Crimson Desert fans are patiently waiting for Pearl Abyss to conclude with its fixes and patches before diving into Pywel properly, many are still enjoying the game across all platforms.

For upcoming Crimson Desert updates, there are still many things that Pearl Abyss can focus on. A notable topic in the community pertains to the boss fights in Crimson Desert, with some players finding them lackluster. Given how open the developers are about their approach to post-launch content, fans can expect to hear about future plans across social media. While it may not necessarily win any awards, Crimson Desert has certainly established itself as one of the biggest games of 2026, and certainly one of the more memorable launches in recent years.
