A new update has arrived for Crimson Desert and while it’s a bit smaller than what fans have gotten used to over time, this one fixes one of the more frustrating remaining bugs currently in the game. Pearl Abyss has continued its steady stream of updates for Crimson Desert, releasing nearly every week even 5 months after the game’s original launch.
It’s an impressive streak and one that has easily transformed the game into something completely new with all of the changes made and content added. Even with major DLC in development, Pearl Abyss continues to tweak the overall experience, even giving fans a heads-up on its plans with a three-month roadmap for Crimson Desert. So far, the developer has hit many of its planned goals, such as further enhancements to the Re-blockade and improvements to non-combat activities, but many are still waiting to see what Pearl Abyss has planned for “refining” Kliff’s story. For now, the latest update is making good on a longstanding bug.
Unlike many previous Crimson Desert patches, this latest one isn’t adding any new content, features, or quality of life improvements. For many players, the biggest piece of this update is the fact that a longstanding bug with the Quick Slot menu has finally been addressed. For weeks and months, players have been reporting an issue that arose when a full stack of food assigned to a spot on the quick slot toolbar had been consumed, the game would automatically fill it with something else. While not game breaking by any stretch, it was a bug that proved to be frustrating and annoying to deal with, and one that seemingly flew under the radar for much longer than many anticipated.
Reaction to the bug fix has been extremely positive, with many in the community celebrating the bug finally meeting its end. The main problem was that it forced players to essentially reconfigure their quickslot toolbar every single time, especially when running out of food during tense moments like a boss fight. Essentially, it typically popped up at less than ideal times.

Outside that highly requested bug fix, the patch addresses a number of other bugs, including fixing localization errors and quality across all supported languages. Footstep sounds were improved while the player is moving, the “Desperate Rescue” challenge now counts correctly, and headgear with special sound effects now triggers correctly during “specific situations.” The update also applied some fixes to the recent Trade system overhaul in a previous Crimson Desert patch. Specifically, trade routes could sometimes appear on the map abnormally, and icons of unobtainable chests also appeared when they shouldn’t have.

Even with all of the post-launch support, fans continue to wonder what’s next for Crimson Desert. As it stands, Pearl Abyss has teased that major DLC is in development for Crimson Desert, but to this point, there’s very little information to go on. In addition, Crimson Desert could be expanding to Nintendo Switch 2 in the future, as Pearl Abyss CEO Huh Jin-young admitted that the studio is reviewing how the console could handle the game, but warned that porting it is easier said than done.
