Destiny 2 Bringing Playable Missions Out of The Content Vault

Destiny 2 Bringing Playable Missions Out of The Content Vault

Destiny 2 is about to have playable missions from the content vault thanks to Project Sunrise. After the unceremonious death of Destiny 2, many fans lost their video game home — a third space that many valued and still do, which now leaves a huge vacuum in the industry. One could argue that there are some games like Destiny 2, such as The Division 2 or Warframe, but they are not exactly comparable despite their great qualities and some similar features.

For this reason, many are still playing Destiny 2 even over two months since its last update, and player numbers hold up to over 30,000 on Steam alone. One of the events that contributed to the game’s decline was the content vault, a system that Bungie put in place to reduce the file size of the game and make it less problematic to constantly update with new content, which eventually included most of vanilla Destiny 2. Now, a Destiny 2 fan-made mod called Project Sunrise promises to not only allow players to explore locations from the content vault, but also to add playable missions in the future.

Destiny 2: Everything Missing From the Game as It Shuts Down Service

As Destiny 2 prepares to stop moving forward, some of its most important campaigns, places, and stories remain locked out of reach.

Destiny 2 Project Sunrise to Add Playable Missions From Content Vault Locations

Destiny 2 Project Sunrise is a free mod with content vault locations that can be freely explored, though it was limited in scope on launch. The developers behind the mod now want to expand upon it, adding loadout customization, options to get new weapons, and various missions from past campaigns and locations. A big boost would come from a fully playable Red War campaign in Destiny 2, as it has been cited multiple times as one of the biggest issues of the content vault, leaving new and returning players without a clear introduction to the game. Quests from the Curse of Osiris DLC are also a possibility, as shown by Project Sunrise devs. If this works, the sky is the limit to what can be done with the mod.

One of the devs shared that more progress has been made with the game’s Triumphs, which can now be unlocked and provide rewards. With so much happening in so little time, it seems plausible that Project Sunrise will indeed expand to include playable missions, though fans shouldn’t expect to be able to use multiplayer functions. Destiny 2‘s Leviathan Raid is now available, and with playable missions, there’s a chance it will be working fully in the future. Even if it ends up being a solo-only experience, fans could witness all the various encounters in the Raid that have been removed with the content vault.

Although the in-game population has been dwindling, Destiny 2 has around 10 times Marathon‘s players on Steam. This doesn’t bode well for Bungie’s only other active game, and it shows yet again that fans wanted more Destiny. The game’s demise is not something the playerbase took quietly, though.

Destiny 2 Project Sunrise Officially Available Now Completely For Free

The official petition for Destiny 3 reached 400,000 signatures and is currently at almost 410,000, which is an impressive feat. This may not move the needle much or at all, but hopefully, Bungie and Sony won’t try to take Project Sunrise down with the overwhelming support the game has gotten.
