Destiny-Style Halo MMOFPS Leaked

Destiny-Style Halo MMOFPS Leaked

As Destiny 2 winds down support, leaks and rumors of a Halo MMOFPS in the vein of Bungie’s hit FPS being in production at Xbox have started to appear, and they’re being corroborated by notable leakers. The Halo franchise reportedly has multiple internal projects in the works, including additional remakes, a mainline entry, and the mysterious Project Ekur.

In the years following Halo Infinite‘s release, Halo Studios has reportedly been trying to determine the best course for the franchise. As fans know now, the studio is remaking Halo: Combat Evolved for a new generation, and there are rumors that the full Halo trilogy will be remade thereafter. However, leaks of the franchise unsuccessfully branching out into the battle royale genre and of an unknown multiplayer-focused Project Ekur on the horizon have fans scratching their heads about where Halo is going next. Of course, now that Bungie is closing the chapter on Destiny 2, there could be an obvious vacancy that the franchise could fill.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Main Menu Sparks New Fan Debate

One of Halo: Campaign Evolved’s most important and iconic visual motifs sparks debate as to whether Halo Studios has done it justice this time.

Halo’s Next Big Project Could Be a Destiny-like MMO, According to a New Leak

Two leakers now claim that a Halo MMOFPS in the style of Destiny is currently in production at Microsoft. The rumor originated from a post by Reddit user HTD_Blog on June 13, 2026, which stated that a Halo MMO was pitched to Microsoft by Obsidian Entertainment roughly two years ago and given the green light by Phil Spencer. However, Obsidian will not be developing the project and, instead, it will be handled by a team codenamed “Team X.” While HTD_Blog sources these claims from a ‘friend who has worked in a position where he would know this information,” notable leaker TechnicalHalo has stated on Twitter that a reliable source of theirs can confirm that the Halo MMOFPS is real and what they know about the project lines up with the original leak, stating that the game has been prototyped multiple times for the past few years.

In HTD_Blog’s post, they claim that players will take on the role of a soldier, similar to an ODST, and go to various planets to complete dungeons and raids, very much like Destiny 2, but in the Halo universe. HTD_Blog closes out the post by warning readers to take this information with a grain of salt, given the fact that this source is simply a friend. Meanwhile, TechnicalHalo is certainly the more reliable of the two insiders, being one of the first to break the news about Halo’s Project Ekur and the Halo trilogy remakes, but fans should probably still just take these current rumors as just that.

Destiny has certainly left a massive hole in the MMO shooter space, especially considering that it was a pioneering game in the genre. Other “looter-shooter” or MMO-lites like Warframe and The Division 2 have certainly done well to keep up in the space, but not many games in that vein can say they’ve hit the same highs as Destiny. Should the Halo MMOFPS materialize and be a huge hit, it would be quite ironic to have Halo fill the shoes of a game that the original Halo studio created in the first place.

Of course, there is a massive budgeting hurdle that could be in the way of this project. As Destiny 2 and its staff entered their final days of support, reports emerged that Destiny was too expensive to keep going, and a Destiny 3 would cost over $500 million to create, which is why the project isn’t happening. As Xbox enters its cuts-and-reshuffle era, a lot is up in the air about whether the publisher can even produce a Halo game that can surpass Destiny as the industry enters one of its most financially challenging times yet.
