Diablo 4 Planning More Mythic Changes Based on Feedback

Diablo 4 Planning More Mythic Changes Based on Feedback

Blizzard is preparing another round of changes to Diablo 4 Mythic items as a result of continued player feedback indicating that the move is necessary. The controversial Season 14 system is thus set for another overhaul, with the next Diablo 4 PTR introducing a more deterministic method for upgrading existing Uniques into Mythics.

Season of Death Awakening launched in Diablo 4 on June 30 with Mythic Uniques 3.0, which transformed Mythic from a separate rarity into an item quality that any Unique can acquire. Under the current Horadric Cube system, converting an eligible Unique generates a random, class-compatible Mythic for the same equipment slot and rerolls the original item’s affixes and modifications. Blizzard previously narrowed the pool of possible outcomes after PTR feedback, but substantial randomness remained at the highest level of Diablo 4‘s item progression.

Diablo 4 Season 14’s Best Rogue Build Can Potentially Make the Server Lag

Diablo 4 has a Rogue build that’s so powerful in Season 14 that playing it can cause the game’s servers to lag due to the overwhelming attack spam.

Diablo 4’s Next Mythic Upgrade Recipe Removes the Random Outcome

In its official overview of the 3.2.0 PTR, Blizzard said it had “heard” player feedback and was simplifying the management of Mythic Uniques and Iconic Mythics. The new Horadric Cube recipe, “Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic,” will live up to its name and convert an item directly instead of generating a different one from the same equipment slot. Blizzard said “the random factors are gone,” meaning the resulting Mythic will preserve the original Unique’s identity, affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking.

Diablo 4 players who upgrade Uniques to Mythics through this deterministic method will pay more than they would at the Blacksmith or Jeweler. Mythics upgraded through the Cube will also receive a Crafted tag, and players may equip only one item carrying that tag at a time. The recipe cannot be used on Unmodifiable items, meaning a Unique that has already been Transfigured will not qualify for direct conversion. The setup addresses two recurring frustrations with Season 14’s Mythic changes: losing a desirable base Unique during conversion and spending resources without receiving the intended Mythic.

What Diablo 4 Players Have Been Saying About the Last Mythic System

The Jeweler will remain the less deterministic alternative. Its Rune Crafting recipe will allow players to select an equipment slot before receiving a random, class-specific Mythic from that slot in exchange for Resplendent Sparks and Runes. These Mythics will not receive the Crafted tag. Neither will items produced through the Blacksmith’s updated cache recipe, which can generate either regular Mythic Uniques or Iconic Mythics available to the player’s class. Blizzard is also expanding the lower end of Mythic progression by introducing regular Unique versions of every Iconic Mythic. The studio described them as easier-to-obtain versions of build-defining items, designed to reduce the time Diablo 4 players spend relying on transitional builds before acquiring their Mythic counterparts. The approach keeps Iconic Mythics as premium drops while making their defining powers available earlier in character progression.

The planned update will not eliminate randomness from every Mythic acquisition method. Blizzard has already adjusted Diablo 4‘s Mythic Unique drop rates, but world drops, Jeweler recipes, and Blacksmith caches will continue to produce random outcomes. The new Mythic Unique Charms will offer even less control because they will have no crafting method or dedicated target-farming source.
