Diablo 4 Season 13's Worst Class is Now Official

Throughout Diablo 4 Season 13, the Paladin has been the only class not to have a completed run of The Pit at Tier 150. With just a few weeks to go until the end of Season 13 and the meta fully set in stone, this marks out the Paladin as the worst class in Diablo 4‘s latest season.

The Pit is one of Diablo 4‘s most popular endgame activities. Players must slay an entire dungeon’s worth of enemies and defeat a final boss on a timer, the aim being to complete the dungeon as quickly as possible. The Pit is also tied to the game’s World Tiers – players can unlock higher difficulties with every run. In total, gamers can complete up to 150 tiers of The Pit, and it is commonly seen as one of the best ways to test out the strength of a Diablo 4 build.

Diablo 4’s Paladin is the Only Class Not to Beat Pit Tier 150 in Season 13

On Helltides’ Pit leaderboards for Season 13, the Paladin is officially the only class not to have a Tier 150 run recorded. This essentially means that the Paladin is the worst class in Diablo 4 Season 13, with all others eclipsing it in the current meta. That’s not to say that there aren’t powerful Paladin builds in Diablo 4. But to push the very limits of the game’s difficulty, that simply isn’t viable using this class at the moment. At the time of writing, the highest Paladin build in Season 13 is in Tier 146, and even that was at a relatively slow 13 minutes and 29 seconds. For context, not only does every other class have a Tier 150 run recorded, but they’ve all managed it faster than the current highest Paladin Pit run.

It’s somewhat surprising to see the Paladin falling behind so far in the meta in Season 13. It’s worth remembering that throughout Seasons 11 and 12, the Paladin was the best class in Diablo 4. This was expected, given that new classes are typically overpowered when they’re first introduced. And when a class is dominant in the meta, nerfs are fairly standard, too, but to see it go from the best to the worst class in one season is certainly a big surprise.

Diablo 4 Season 13 is the first season of the Lord of Hatred expansion. As a result, many of the game’s classes have been buffed to extremely powerful levels, allowing them to complete much higher Pit tiers than before. It’s worth noting that, prior to Season 13, it wasn’t since Season 7 that any class had managed to beat The Pit at Tier 150, so the fact that seven of eight have achieved it in the latest season points to a much more powerful meta overall. It will be very interesting to see if this changes for Season 14.

Season 14 of Diablo 4 is expected to launch on June 30, marking a return to the traditional seasonal mechanics. With Season 13 being an expansion season, there was no single mechanic that the game is balanced around, but the upcoming Pandemonium Ruptures will change that. The recent PTR for Diablo 4 Season 14 has left some players worried, so it will be interesting to see if it can live up to the popularity of Season 13.
