Diablo 4 Season 14 Finally Makes its Worst Mythic Unique Viable

Diablo 4 Season 14 Finally Makes its Worst Mythic Unique Viable

Diablo 4 Season 14 is changing the way Mythics function, resulting in one of the worst Mythic Uniques historically becoming a viable option. With the release of Diablo 4 Season 14 and the 3.1.0 update, Mythics are no longer a rarity but an item quality, and every Unique in Diablo 4 has the chance to be Mythic. While this change is rather dramatic for a game whose builds have relied on a set of extra powerful items to achieve success, it leaves room for less commonly used Mythics to see play.

The Season of Death Awakening is not only reworking Diablo 4‘s Mythics, but also adding a variety of seasonal features for players to experience. Included in these seasonal mechanics are the return of Realmwalkers, which grant access to Deathtoll Chambers when defeated, and a new monster family, the Risen, which includes a new seaonal Lair Boss. Diablo 4 players who haven’t purchased the Lord of Hatred expansion yet can even access a free trial of the Warlock class up to level 25 to kick off Season 14.

Diablo 4’s Worst Class is Finally Viable in Season 14

Diablo 4 Season 14 finally makes the worst class of late viable once again.

Nesekem, the Herald is Finally a Viable Spiritborn Mythic in Diablo 4 Season 14

Infamously, one of the worst Mythics in Diablo 4 was the Spiritborn’s glaive Nesekem, the Herald. Before the Mythic 3.0 update in Season 14, Nesekem, the Herald was fairly underpowered compared to some of the non-Mythic Unique weapons the Spiritborn could access. While a +200 to All Stats and +1200 Maximum Life affixes could be somewhat helpful, its Unique affix never really outshined any of the alternative options Spiritborns could use in its place.

+400% Damage to Elites

+200 to All Stats
+1200 Maximum Life
+250.0% Critical Strike Damage
+450.0% Overpower Damage
Every 2 seconds, you randomly mark a Nearby enemy. Marked enemies are Vulnerable, and your attacks against them are guaranteed to Critically Strike and Overpower. Hitting a marked enemy 10 times clears the mark from them.
In the days when Ajaw Y’ishich ruled Nahantu, the phoenix constellation’s crown fell in burning glory. From it was forged a blade that withered valor, heralding an age of despair.

Spiritborn

In Diablo 4 Season 14, Mythic is no longer a rarity and is now a quality that can be applied to all Uniques. New Mythic Uniques can drop from bosses and chests like before, but any Unique can also be upgraded to a Mythic using the Horadric Cube. Doing so requires Pandemonium Fragments found through the seasonal reputation board, resplendent caches, and the seasonal Lair Boss. Mythic Uniques now grant a 30% increase to its Unique power, making them especially powerful for Season 14 builds.

An important part of making Mythic Uniques craftable in the Horadric Cube is the added ability to re-roll some of the affixes these Uniques come with. While every Unique has two guaranteed affixes, other slots can be re-rolled for the optimal affix for a given build. Since previous Mythics had entirely static affixes, there is the potential for a historically underwhelming Mythic like Nesekem, the Herald, to become usable with a re-rolled affix and a 30% more powerful Unique affix.

  • Guaranteed Affix 1: Weapon Damage
  • Guaranteed Affix 2: Vulnerable Damage Multiplier

Both of the guaranteed affixes for Nesekem, the Herald in Diablo 4 Season 14 are some of the better options that a Mythic can have in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred. With Lord of Hatred’s change to Skill Trees, individual additive stats to skills are less valuable than Damage Multiplier skills. Nesekem, the Herald already focuses on applying Vulnerable to enemies with its Unique ability, so having a guaranteed Vulnerable Damage Multiplier affix provides excellent synergy that the previous version of the Mythic lacked.
