The Necromancer is back in a great position in Diablo 4 Season 14 after falling down the meta in recent seasons. After the changes to the Skill Tree in Lord of Hatred, the Necromancer plays quite differently than it has historically in Diablo 4. For players looking to build an S-Tier Necromancer in Diablo 4 Season 14, a new spin on an old reliable build is a fitting way to experience the Season of Death Awakening.
Despite some massive changes to Diablo 4‘s Mythics, including an apparent reduced drop rate, there are a variety of viable builds in the Season 14 meta. While the Barbarian and Rogue are still the best classes this season, the Necromancer is still a solid option with top-tier meta potential. The Bone Spirit Necromancer is arguably the best build for the class in the Season of Death Awakening, and it doesn’t take much to get it endgame ready.
Diablo 4 Season 14 Has an S-Tier Build That’s Basically a 2-for-1 Deal
One S-Tier build for Diablo 4 Season 14 is a double dose of damage that blends two powerful archetypes into a single play style.
Diablo 4’s Bone Spirit Necromancer is Back with a Vengeance in Season 14
Bone Spirit Necromancer is designed as a build for speed farming and pit pushing, allowing players to summon dozens of undead spirits to explode and massacre any enemy in the Necromancer’s path. Although players will need to manage the Necromancer’s Essence resource with the build, there are very few other limitations keeping it from plowing through endgame content. Ideally, Necromancer players will want to take advantage of the new Mythic 3.0 update to kit their character out with more powerful versions of their Uniques, but this isn’t completely necessary for success.

Best Skills for the Bone Spirit Necromancer
- Gift of Death Skeleton Mage
- Inexorable Reaper Sever
- Get Over Here! Corpse Tendrils
- Blood Rush Blood Mist
- Astral Projection Bone Spirit
- Roll the Bones Bone Storm
With Lord of Hatred’s changes to the Necromancer’s Skill Tree, Skeleton Mage becomes a skill on the Core branch. The Gift of Death upgrade for Skeleton Mage turns it into a Corpse Skill that requires a Corpse to summon a minion. However, it also increases the Necromancer’s Essence regeneration by 127%, making it crucial to dealing with this build’s Essence deficiency.
The other Core Skill on this build is Sever, which is mainly used as a movement skill with the Inexorable Reaper upgrade. Corpse Tendrils is a staple of the best Necromancer builds in Diablo 4, and the Get Over Here! upgrade allows the skill to pull enemies towards the player instead of a Corpse. The Blood Rush upgrade of Blood Mist turns it into a Mobility skill that also consumes Corpses, which feeds the Aspect of Creeping Cadaver for a buff to Movement Speed and a chance to re-trigger Skeleton Mage and restore more Essence.
Bone Spirit is the centerpiece of this build, and the Core Skill upgrade gives it an Essence cost rather than a cooldown. Meanwhile, the Astral Projection upgrade makes the spirit orbit around the Necromancer, allowing them to use their Mobility Skills to warp around the map while damaging enemies with the rotating spirit. Bone Storm is the Ultimate Skill of choice for this build, since it can help with survivability through its Barrier generation potential via the Barrier upgrade, and the Roll the Bones upgrade also increases the Necromancer’s Crit Chance and Cast Speed.
Players will also want to invest a few skill points into Decrepify and Iron Maiden to get their effects passively from the Blood Moon Breaches.
Best Legendary Aspects for the Bone Spirit Necromancer
- Aspect of Compound Fracture
- Aspect of Creeping Cadaver
- Splintering Aspect
- Aspect of Bursting Bones
- Aspect of Rapid Ossification
- Aspect of Deluge
Most of the Legendary Aspects for this Necromancer build focus on buffing the damage of Bone Skills. Compound Fracture, Splintering, and Bursting Bones aspects all contribute to this damage increase. Compound Fracture and Splintering aspects increase damage after 10 Crits and to vulnerable enemies, respectively, while Bursting Bones increases damage proportional to the Necromancer’s Maximum Essence.

Necromancer
The Aspect of Creeping Cadaver is the key to keeping the Necromancer’s Essence topped up. It triggers a random Corpse Skill for every 20 Meters the player moves. The idea is to have it trigger Skeleton Mage so that the Necromancer gets the skill’s increased Essence Regeneration near constantly while moving. Deluge can also help keep up with Essence Regeneration since it increases the player’s Maximum Primary Resource for every stack of Overpower they have.
Rapid Ossification is the primary drain on the Necromancer’s Essence, only triggering when they spend 100 points of their primary resource. However, it is a necessary aspect to have since this trigger reduces the cooldown for the Necromancer’s Bone Skills, allowing the Necromancer to keep Bone Storm active as much as possible.
Best Uniques for the Bone Spirit Necromancer
Each time you use a Skill with a Resource Cost, gain [10 – 15]% or 18%[x] increased damage and Resource Cost is increased by 30%[+] for 4 seconds, stacking up to 5 times.
The prince of Hatred, fair as maggots over carrion. He claims no throne, crafts no realms, reigning over only a blackened, bitter heart. Some legends name him banished, while others dread his return.
- Crown of Lucion (Mythic)
- Vengeful Sinew (Mythic)
- Blood Moon Breaches (Mythic)
- Lidless Wall (Mythic)
With the Heir of Perdition nerfed in Season 14 and no longer the best-in-slot helm in Diablo 4, the Crown of Lucion becomes the ideal Mythic Unique for the Necromancer. While it does increase the damage of skills with a resource cost, it also increases that resource cost, putting an even greater strain on the Necromancer’s Essence. The Vengeful Sinew chest piece is perfect to pair with this build since it specifically targets Bone Spirit with an increase to its damage and one additional spirit explosion.
The Blood Moon Breaches are almost always worth using on a Necromancer build since they give the player a free cast of Decrepify and Iron Maiden whenever the player’s summons deal damage. As such, it’s worth investing a few points into these skills and upgrading them to the Life Tap and Blood Maiden, respectively. The Lidless Wall synergizes with Bone Storm by giving enemies the chance to spawn another Bone Storm around them when hit.
What Makes the Bone Spirit Necromancer an S-Tier Build in Diablo 4 Season 14
The ability to change several of the Necromancer’s skills into Mobility Skills is a game changer for the class and makes it far more mobile than ever before. Being able to synergize Movement Skills like Blood Mist and Sever with a Legendary Aspect like Creeping Cadaver gives the Necromancer ammo to keep firing off Bone Spirit and Bone Storm. Couple this with different modifiers that increase the damage of Bone Spirit and Bone Storm, and the Necromancer becomes a force to be reckoned with in activities like the Kurast Undercity, Nightmare Dungeons, and The Pit.
