Disney Dreamlight Valley Unveils New Character and More for Free April 2026 Update

Disney Dreamlight Valley has shared an overview trailer for its next free update, featuring the debut of Pocahontas. Gameloft had previously teased the character in December 2025, and now players can finally expect her addition on April 8. Disney Dreamlight Valley was initially launched in 2023 and has since become a hit among life simulation fans. With the release of Pocahontas, the game’s list of iconic Disney princesses grows larger.

In recent months, Gameloft’s casual life-sim has been steadily releasing exciting updates and new characters. Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s last major DLC, Wishblossom Ranch, launched in November 2025. But the game has also added some free patches, like The Winter Ball update in December, which debuted Cinderella. More recently, in February 2026, Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s Puppy Love patch added the beloved Lady and the Tramp, along with its first Valentine’s Day-themed limited event. Now, another big free update will let players meet a new character, a new companion, and more in the coming weeks.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Showcases Pocahontas’ Debut in Free April 8 Update

Through an official social media post, Disney Dreamlight Valley has shared a trailer for its Whispers of the Wind update, scheduled for April 8, 2026. The free patch will let players befriend Pocahontas, one of Disney’s most popular princesses, for the first time in-game. As seen in the video, players will work with Moana to follow mysterious leaves flowing in the wind around the Valley. These leaves will have fans collect memories and finally meet Pocahontas. Then, fans will learn about a phenomenon altering the Valley’s ocean and help the Disney princess hold a special celebration. Inviting Pocahontas to their Valley will grant players her own house design and her Friendship Quest. Completing this quest will also reward a signature outfit for fans’ avatars.

A new Disney Dreamlight Valley animal companion can be unlocked in the Whispers of the Wind update as well. According to Gameloft, players will need to craft a special bait to fish out Meeko, Pocahontas’ raccoon friend from the animated movie. In addition to Pocahontas’ adventures, DDV players can also look forward to the return of mischief-related content. The Whispers of the Wind patch will kick off a new mischief saga featuring a mysterious character “lurking in the Valley shadows.” This new content seems to be similar to the previous Cheshire Cat Chaos event from May 2025, in which players had to complete various missions for limited rewards. Gameloft has advised players to keep an eye out for further updates on which character will cause mayhem in the Dreamlight Castle next.

Disney Dreamlight Valley 2025 Showcase reveals

As DDV kept adding characters like Snow White and Aurora, Pocahontas was one of the few classic Disney princesses still missing from the game. However, while some fans were anticipating her addition, other players have argued that Pocahontas should not join Disney Dreamlight Valley. Their reasoning related to how Disney’s animated film Pocahontas is culturally insensitive towards Native Americans and the real-life historical figure Matoaka. Some fans also maintain that John Smith’s addition to Disney Dreamlight Valley would be just as controversial. It remains to be seen whether Gameloft will release the character in future updates.

Pocahontas’ debut was first teased in Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s 2026 roadmap. With the confirmation of the Whispers of the Wind update, only one more patch is left in the schedule. The development team has hinted that Hercules will join the Valley sometime during the summer of 2026. There are still plenty of Disney and Pixar franchises that Disney Dreamlight Valley can dip into for more content and events. However, fans will have to wait for official announcements in the coming months. In the meantime, DVV players can participate in the Easter-themed Eggstravaganza event, which will run from April 1 to 21 with limited in-game rewards.
