Dispatch is Finally Coming to Xbox

Dispatch is Finally Coming to Xbox

The hit superhero narrative title Dispatch is coming to Xbox Series X/S consoles later this summer. Dispatch will also be compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere, making one of the top story-driven titles of 2025 playable on many more devices than before.

In short, Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy developed by former Telltale Games staff members. Dispatch puts players in charge of a superhero emergency dispatch call center, as they are tasked with rehabilitating ex-supervillians through their choices. With emergencies cropping up across Los Angeles, the choices Dispatch players make can have lasting consequences as each episode plays out. Dispatch‘s narrative and memorable cast of characters earned it several accolades, including the 2025 Steam Award for Outstanding Story-Rich Game, as voted by players.

Surprise New Day One Xbox Game Pass Game is Coming on March 31

Xbox Game Pass subscribers suddenly have a brand-new day one game to look forward to at the end of the month.

Dispatch Flies Onto Xbox This Summer

Although Dispatch did not initially launch on the Xbox ecosystem, the wait will soon be over for Xbox players. During the March 26 Xbox Partner Preview live stream, developer AdHoc Studio confirmed that Dispatch would launch on Xbox consoles in summer 2026. The release window also covers Xbox on Windows, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Xbox Play Anywhere. All of Dispatch‘s episodes will be available on Xbox once the upcoming port is fully released. However, AdHoc Studio did not confirm an exact release date for Dispatch‘s Xbox port, and did not list Xbox Game Pass among the new offerings.

Since Dispatch will join the Xbox Play Anywhere ecosystem, only one purchase will be necessary to play the game on PC, consoles, and supported handhelds, including save data and achievements. The Xbox port of Dispatch is being co-developed by PlayEveryWare, which previously assisted with porting Dispatch to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, including work on Unreal Engine modifications and performance optimizations for each system. Given that summer runs from late June to mid-September, Dispatch‘s Xbox port will arrive some time before the game’s first anniversary.

Part of Dispatch‘s success was that it gave fans a compelling story and had no microtransactions. According to a November 2025 interview, co-creators Dennis Lenart and Chris Rebbert stated that Dispatch‘s linear and focused narrative, which was “uninhibited by microtransactions,” made it successful on PC and PS5, and that Dispatch‘s episodic nature kept giving players a reason to come back and go through its narrative. During its initial release window, Dispatch released two episodes per week, with eight episodes in total. As of this writing, all eight Dispatch episodes can be played in their entirety on all supported platforms.

Dispatch On Xbox Has One Big Question To Answer

Before its launch, Dispatch’s Xbox port will have one lingering question to answer about the game’s censorship history. The Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 ports of Dispatch were censored in some cutscenes and promotional artwork, and this fact was not communicated by Nintendo or AdHoc Studio until after the ports were already released. Following rounds of criticism from fans, AdHoc Studio apologized for not being forward with its decisions, and said that it would work with Nintendo to address the censorship controversy while still complying with Nintendo’s storefront policies. Given that the PC and PS5 versions of Dispatch retain all the game’s content without censorship, it remains to be seen if the Xbox version of Dispatch will be censored or not.

Dispatch‘s story has left fans clamoring for another season of the hit superhero title. Although AdHoc Studio has not officially confirmed if Dispatch will get a second season, the development team stated that it would “think about it.” With Dispatch soon to be available on Xbox, time will tell if the superhero narrative game will get a second season.
