While it will not revolutionize the Dragon Ball Z hierarchy of cosmic power, introduced and expanded across the wider DBZ franchise through Super, Daima, and beyond, an upcoming release is expanding its own roster with new races. Not only is Dragon Ball Z expanding with the Time Gods of Destruction, but there will also be at least two new races at play, too.
The Dragon Ball Z anime and manga may have concluded in the 1990s, but the universe feels ever-expanding. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is gearing up for Fall 2026, which is a retelling of the Battle of the Gods arc, and the Dragon Ball Super anime is currently working on the Galactic Patrol Arc adaptation. And while that space-time is expanding, so is time itself.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Introducing 2 New Playable Races
- Earthlings
- Saiyans
- Namekians
- Majins
- The Frieza race
- Bio-Androids (New Playable Race)
- Kaioshin/Demons (New Playable Race)
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is set to release in 2027, and the upcoming game is believed to be expanding its playable roster from five in Xenoverse 2 to seven races (meaning two will be new playable races in the upcoming DBZ game). It is not confirmed, but the first race is believed to be Bio-Androids, similar to Cell from the anime and Android 21 from Dragon Ball FighterZ. Given how their whole shtick is evolution through new physical forms, it’ll be interesting to see how and if they are adapted into Xenoverse 3‘s gameplay. The second race is believed to be Kaioshin (Supreme Kais) and/or Demons, and it’s unclear if it’s one, both, and/or the other, given their shared lineage. Demons are essentially the evil opposites of Kaioshin.

These new races are believed to be added to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 as various outlets and content creators have mentioned them, which have lined up with industry events, even if Bandai Namco Entertainment has only slightly shown its hand for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3‘s new gameplay features. That said, developers have heavily teased that new races are on the way, even if these specific ones are proven incorrect. In a prior interview with Monstervine, executive producer Masayuki Hiranao said that he would not reveal too much when asked directly about races, but did say that, “[T]he range of customization is both horizontal and vertical. If that makes sense, it is going to be much deeper and wider. New races are still TBD, but from Universe 2 to Universe 3, the range of customization is going to increase a lot.”
In other words, Hiranao could not officially comment on the possibility of new races in Xenoverse 3, but deeper means the available customization and character creation options, while wider can only really mean that new options are available from the get-go. After a decade with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, it’s understandable that Xenoverse 3 fans want more than Earthlings, Saiyans, Namekians, Majins, and the Frieza race.

Of course, there could be something else at play here, but most of the fandom agrees that this is happening. There’s still plenty of time for CyberConnect 2 and Bandai Namco to show more of the upcoming anime game, but without a doubt, it’s one of the most anticipated in the wider genre.
