Dragon Ball fans from all corners of the franchise need to mark their calendar for September 17, as the beloved IP is making a key appearance on that date. Of course, the wider Dragon Ball Z franchise is so busy that fans should probably circle most of Fall/Winter 2026 and parts of 2027, but September 17 remains a key date all the same.
Unfortunately, across the franchise, there’s a lot of waiting right now. Many fans are no doubt eagerly awaiting the remake of Dragon Ball Super Beerus, which introduces a few key animation improvements to the beloved story told in both DBZ and Super; the Galactic Patrol arc, specifically as adapted from manga into anime form; and a proper continuation of the Dragon Ball Super manga, following the passing of Akira Toriyama.
Dragon Ball Returns at the TGS 2026
While the overall wait across the wider DBZ franchise is unfortunate, there are plenty of stops along the way between major releases. September 17, for example, is the start of the Tokyo Game Show, and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed the upcoming game release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 will be there with a playable demo. Given that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is already confirmed for Gamescom as well, it’s likely to be the same demo for fans able to attend in person. But it’s possible that news comes out of Gamescom, like new confirmed characters, story details, or so forth, and then Bandai doubles up not much later with more at Tokyo Game Show.

What Bandai intends to show off, as well as how much, remains to be seen, but it should be an interesting time nonetheless. Bandai obviously has more games coming than Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, and it’ll be showing up to TGS with a full slate, including Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, Bleach Mirrors High, One Piece: Grand Gourmet, and Tales of Eternia Remastered. Each is at a different “marketing” stage, but the only one not listed as playable is Tales of Eternia Remastered.
With as heavily as Bandai is marketing Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 right now, which is arguably unnecessary as the final DLC for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 built a lot of anticipation for the future of the subfranchise, it seems likely the upcoming anime fighting game will launch in early Spring 2027. There’s a lot left to show and plenty of room for a release date, so it remains to be seen what Bandai decides to show when and where it decides to appear.
Perhaps one of the most interesting details about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is the Time Gods of Destruction. It’s a logical story direction since, presumably, they share the same bond with the Supreme Kai of Time as the standard Supreme Kais and Gods of Destruction do. For now, though, fans will just have to wait and see what’s behind this new transformation for the franchise.
