Adrian has been writing, critiquing, and thinking about games since he first picked up an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news, and features for Game Rant and believes games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies, and television shows. When he’s not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and likes to get nerdy about tech and retro games at HackerNoon. Outside the gaming world, he spends plenty of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. Follow him on Twitter for nonsense tweets likely related to Dragon Ball Z, or check out Breadhouse Records for some tunes.
New estimates suggest Gears of War: E-Day has sold roughly 230,000 copies since its early-access launch, offering the first indication of how Xbox’s latest console exclusive is performing. That said, early Gears of War: E-Day numbers might get much more complicated once Xbox Game Pass and Premium Edition upgrades are taken into account.
Gears of War: E-Day Has Reportedly Sold 230,000 Copies
According to estimates from private games market data company Alinea Analytics, Gears of War: E-Day has sold approximately 230,000 copies between its October 1 early access period and October 6 worldwide launch. Steam reportedly makes up about 168,000 of those sales, while just around 62,000 copies were sold through Xbox across console and PC. However, Alinea estimates the game has still generated about $37 million in total revenue, with roughly $26 million from Xbox and $11 million from Steam, making Xbox the revenue leader while Gears of War: E-Day on Steam is ahead in unit sales. At this time, Microsoft and The Coalition have not confirmed those figures, so fans should treat them as third-party estimates rather than official sales numbers.
