Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney recently took aim at Valve over the announcement that the price of the Steam Deck has increased. Valve officially confirmed on May 27 that the price of the popular Steam handheld would be increasing, rising by as much as $300 for the 1 TB model. Sweeney suggested that the higher price for consumers directly benefits Valve CEO Gabe Newell, claiming it was due to “disruption in the component parts supply chain for megayachts.” Newell, known to have an affinity for yachts, purchased the private yacht builder Oceanco in 2025, while also owning his own megayacht.
