Fable showed up in a big way at the Xbox Games Showcase, confirming its February 23 release date, giving a first look at the upcoming villain played by Haley Atwell, and showing off the return of Jack of Blades. Afterward, Xbox would go on to show off the available content in both its Premium and Collector’s Editions, as well as its pre-order bonuses.

Of course, it’s worth noting that the Collector’s Edition of Fable does include access to the full game (something that doesn’t happen with every CE). Xbox and PlayStation players will receive a physical disc for it, while Steam users will get a digital code. Those who pre-order any edition of the game receive the Pre-Order Content pack, which includes a Chicken Suit and a number of in-game gifts: Wild Flower Bouquet, Toy Chicken, and a Scones & Jam Picnic Hamper. These gifts are used to increase your Fable hero’s reputation in Albion.

Many fans have been waiting for the Fable games to make a comeback, and needless to say, the latest title has looked better with every showing. It stays true to its roots, while rebooting the franchise, and it retains the choice-driven, hero’s journey-focused open-world action RPG gameplay fans know and love. Honestly, the saddest news about Fable is the delay to February, but it’s more than understandable.

Fable fans may not get to play this year, but not so subtly, Xbox delayed the game to give it its own time in the sun, which is basically saying it doesn’t want to release near Grand Theft Auto 6. Which is fair, as all game developers and publishers have a complicated relationship with GTA 6. September is filled to the brim with game releases, and only a few are daring to release in October because of GTA 6‘s November release date.

Yes, the most dangerous time is after GTA 6‘s release and all the time players will put into in November and December, but people will be saving money ahead of then, making September and October incredibly risky for the laygamer. As such, a few months after GTA 6‘s release, the collector’s edition of Fable is incredibly appealing as a purchase (as well as the game). It’s hard to ignore that Jack of Blades statuette.
