Microsoft Insider Jez Corden has explained that the Fallout 3 remake may make an appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase because its release date could fall within the window of the show’s limitations. Of course, Fallout fans have been here before. It’s hard not to give up hope after Fallout season 2 came and went with nothing official about the rumored remakes of either Fallout 3 or New Vegas, but insiders like Corden have helped keep the flame alive.
Previously, Corden discussed what he knew about both the Fallout remasters and The Elder Scrolls 6 on an episode of the Xbox Two Podcast, saying they were all further out than fans thought. He explained that he expects the next Elder Scrolls game to come a year or two after the first Fallout remaster, and that he expected one of them some time in 2027. Similarly, this could mean that the Fallout: New Vegas remaster could come after The Elder Scrolls 6, as the latter could happen in 2028 or 2029 according to Corden.
New Fallout Game Reportedly Canceled
A reputable gaming journalist comments on a new, unannounced Fallout game developed by a Microsoft studio apparently being canceled.
Fallout 3 Remake’s POSSIBLE Release Date
- First 6 Months of 2027
- More likely if it appears at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7
Now, Corden seems to think—keyword think—that the Fallout 3 remaster could be at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase. Not only would that be exciting for fans of the franchise, but it would also mean that it releases by this time next year. Pointed out by Corden himself, Xbox CCO Matt Booty recently confirmed that the Xbox Games Showcase will largely focus on games releasing in the next 12 months. He rules out Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 on this basis, but then says, “Maybe we could catch a glimpse at the long-rumored Fallout 3 remake?” Given his sources, there would be no reason to suggest it was there if he did not reason to believe it would release within 12 months or now, which also means within the first six months of 2027.

If so, that release date might fit fans perfectly. It’s further away than they hoped, but it’s not the end of 2027 or later, which is what many may have expected last time Corden discussed the game. It bears repeating that this is more insight based on his sources and less of a solid claim, but given that this is CEO Asha Sharma’s first Xbox Games Showcase, it would not be surprising to see her give the greenlight to go hard. Otherwise, the Fallout 3 remaster may be shelved and kept out of public knowledge longer.
However, the remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are basically Microsoft’s worst-kept secret. They are not nearly as leaky as, say, the recent reveal of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, but they are constant and consistent enough that most fans know it’s happening, despite no official announcement.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.
An official announcement is exactly what fans need. There’s clearly a lot going on with the IP—Todd Howard recently discussed the early development stages of Fallout 5—but it’s not like gamers are exactly patient. It’s totally understandable and reasonably to want more out of than the ongoing show, no matter how good it is.
