Fallout Wins Game Rant’s Best TV Series Based On A Game

The gaming industry’s reach has been gradually expanding, with more and more popular titles making appearances in other media forms. In particular, some of the biggest and most memorable franchises in recent years are being adapted for television audiences.

With more TV shows comes more competition, as some beloved series have begun competing with one another for the affections of audiences. So, we wanted to find out from Ranters who they thought was the king of telly — and they have decided.

Game Rant’s Top 10 Games of 2025

Game Rant ranks the top 10 games of 2025, highlighting the best titles released in a year packed with uniquely memorable experiences.

Fallout Voted The Best Video Game Adaptation By GR Readers

Fallout Season 2 Moves Up Its Release Date with Explosive Display

The television adaptation of Bethesda’s wildly popular Fallout series was declared the winner in a landslide, besting the likes of the Pedro Pascal-led The Last Of Us, and a few other very noteworthy spin-offs.

Which live-action TV series based on a video game is the best?

Video TV Show Poll

  • Fallout — 51% / 289 votes.
  • The Last Of Us — 18% / 105 votes.
  • None of these — 16% / 93 votes.
  • Halo — 6% / 33 votes.
  • Twisted Metal — 5% / 26 votes.
  • Knuckles — 4% / 23 votes.

With just over half of the total votes, Fallout takes the crown of our readers’ favorite television adaptation of a video game. Since it’s release in 2024, the show has taken the world by storm, with many fans flocking back for the second season as it continues to unveil.

Coming in second place is The Last Of Us, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay. While there have been some talking points and critiques about the show, the original game has historically been applauded as one of the strongest game narratives in recent memory, something that has largely carried over to television.

Interestingly, in third place, with a fairly significant chunk of the overall votes, was “none of these”. This, of course, is open to interpretation, but could include other recent adaptations like Arcane, Secret Level, and Devil May Cry.

Rounding out the remaining options were a tight-knit race between three iconic franchises, some of which have historically been loyal to their own major console brand. Edging out the competition is the formerly Xbox-only Halo, followed by PlayStation’s Twisted Metal, then Knuckles, from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. While they didn’t seem to have a significant impact on the GR audience, in comparison to the top-scoring options, they can certainly rely on the unwavering loyalty of their diehard fanbases.

With a winner crowned, it’s time to put on our festive hats and enjoy the holiday season! So, which 2025 top title will you be marathoning?
