Fighting Souls Teases Boss Characters With Episode Mode Reveal

Alongside revealing more of the single-player Episode Mode for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Arc System Works have also revealed the in-game models for Promoter and Champion. With the full playable roster finally confirmed and the launch date for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls now right around the corner, fans are curious to see what other sort of surprises Arc System Works might be hiding.

Fresh off of EVO 2026 in Las Vegas, Arc System Works confirmed the final launch team for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Led by the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider, the Samurai Outriders also feature the likes of Blade, Deadpool, and Loki. While the team may look like a mashup of random characters, Arc System Works confirmed that this group is made up of outlaw-style characters. Loki is able to use trickery and magic, Blade is an aggressive sword character that can power himself up, while Deadpool has a “high risk” fighting style that utilizes unique attacks from fighting games of legend. However, even with all teams now revealed, ArcSys seems to have a few more details left to share.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls PC Requirement Means It Won’t Be Playable For Some

Sony appears to be in another controversy as fans discover that a PC requirement for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls means it will be blocked for some.

Arc System Works appears to be focusing next on the available game modes, including the previously revealed Episode Mode for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Positioned as a single player experience, ArcSys gave fans a new look at the game mode through a short teaser via its social media channels. Episode Mode is written by comic writer Kieron Gillen and different industry artists, with 5 stories for each team within the game. As hinted at in each of the trailers, it appears that each story will showcase how the 5 different teams combat the threat of the Champion.

Alongside the new look at the Episode Mode, players were also shown new gameplay for some of the newer Marvel Tokon fighters like Green Goblin, who has a super where he can call his glider to strike his enemy. Blade also gets a cinematic-style throw where he sticks his sword in the ground before dicing up his opponent, and then Loki, who can summon clones to attack his enemy. However, the big reveal came towards the end where the Promoter and Champion were also revealed through gameplay. It appears players will have to go through Promoter first, before the ultimate showdown with The Champion on a brand-new stage as well.

Until now, the Promoter and Champion have only been seen through the game’s animated cutscenes, so this reveal has certainly got some members of the community thinking. Based on the gameplay, the Promoter appears to have some very unique moves, utilizing a shield and random-looking projectiles, while also being able to teleport to safety. As for The Champion, he seems to feature a moveset that is heavy with kick-style attacks, appearing to have his own version of Rugal’s Double Tomahawk and Genocide Cutter-style attack from the King of Fighters series. Considering the “normal” sized models of these boss characters, some have even speculated that both the Promoter and Champion could be secret unlockable characters, something which wouldn’t be a first for a fighting game.

Regardless, fans will have more chances to go hands on with the game in the coming weeks, before the launch date in August arrives. While there’s a planned open beta later in July, ArcSys will be bringing the game to various upcoming events, including San Diego Comic-Con. Unfortunately, it seems Marvel Tokon is being swept up in the current community anger towards Sony, as a recent PlayStation post regarding Comic-Con has been checked by the community, who added a note to remind people of the company’s plans to end physical games by 2028.
