Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Director Has Already Completed 40 Full Playthroughs

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 game director Naoki Hamaguchi said that he has already “completed over 40 full playthroughs” of the upcoming title. However, Hamaguchi’s playthroughs of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 were likely done to check for any issues and catch any bugs that emerge before the game’s release.

Although details about the finale of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga remain elusive, Hamaguchi previously revealed that the game will still utilize a modified version of Unreal Engine 4 to ease development. Although Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3‘s official name has already been decided by Square Enix, the company has kept it under wraps. Ergo, fans are currently left taking their best guesses at what FF7 Remake Part 3‘s name could be.

FF7 Remake Part 3’s Director Already Has 40 Playthroughs Done

Despite the long wait for official news, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 has already undergone rigorous testing by one of its chief developers. In an interview with NintendoLife, Hamaguchi said that he has already played through Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 over 40 times from start to finish. Hamaguchi also stated that development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 remains on schedule, but asked fans to wait just a little longer for more information about the project. Though Hamaguchi did not say exactly what the purpose of his playthroughs was, each session was likely intended to comb through Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and catch any outstanding bugs or issues before release. Hamaguchi said, “I can’t wait for as many people as possible to experience the game for themselves, and myself and the team are working hard to ensure we can create an unforgettable gameplay experience.”

The latest progress report from Hamaguchi lined up with his previous statements made in early 2026. Hamaguchi previously stated that, while Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 will be a multiplatform release, the game will be optimized for each supported platform to ensure players have a smooth experience throughout. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3‘s game design assets will be made with high-end gaming PCs in mind first before being adjusted for consoles.

Hamaguchi also discussed the upcoming ports of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, releasing on June 3. Hamaguchi stated that the short wait time between the arrivals of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2 and Xbox was part of a steady release cadence to keep fans engaged during the wait for FF7 Remake Part 3. Since Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and FF7 Rebirth were ports, Hamaguchi stated that Square Enix did not feel the need to have a lengthy wait between launches. Hamaguchi said, “We want to capitalize on this cadence and moment to tie the experiences together without any gaps, from Remake to Rebirth to finally the third installment that lies beyond them.”

In the meantime, fans can download a free demo of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2 and Xbox to see how the game performs on their consoles. As for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, the anticipated title will follow up immediately after the conclusion of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. However, given how much ground Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 has to cover, time will tell how Square Enix will present it.
