Bandai Namco has revealed that Yujiro Hanma will be the next character added to Tekken 8, and he’ll become available to players in early 2027. Since the 2024 release of Tekken 8, four new characters have been added to the game via a season pass. Taking the name literally, each character is dropped into the fighting game to coincide with the changing of the seasons.
The first Tekken 8 Season 3 DLC character will launch on May 27, 2026, in early access, and she will receive her full release on June 1, 2026. Kunimitsu is a returning character to the Iron Fist tournament, but not all the DLC characters are series fan favorites making their comebacks. The first season pass was completed by the addition of Clive Rosfield, the protagonist of Final Fantasy 16, showing that Tekken 8 is more than happy to introduce characters from other series for fun crossover moments.

Yujiro Hanma Joins the Tekken 8 Roster in 2027
Bandai Namco has released a new trailer, which showcases all four DLC characters from Tekken 8 Season 3, including the previously unannounced contender. After recapping the addition of Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr, the trailer reveals that Yujiro Hanma will be the final new character of the season. His release window is currently very vague, with Yujiro coming to the game in early 2027, likely indicating a January or February launch. Given that Kunimitsu is releasing in late spring, Yujiro might be added towards the end of the season as well.

Yujiro Hanma is a character from the Baki series, which follows the titular protagonist as he attempts to train hard enough to defeat his father, Yujiro, in battle. Also known as the strongest creature on Earth, it’s no surprise that Baki spent 40 episodes taking part in intense training before he felt ready to take on his mercenary father. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t reveal any of Yujiro’s action in-game, instead choosing to show some dramatic manga-style cutscenes. Hopefully, Bandai Namco will show off some gameplay soon, so fans will know how Yujiro will handle in Tekken 8.
Aside from the announcement of Yujiro’s addition to the game, the trailer revealed that the next stage being added to Tekken 8 is called Subsea Lockdown. There wasn’t any footage of this addition either, with just a sneak peek of the level seen at the very end of the announcement. Tekken 8‘s Season 3 received negative feedback at launch, leading Bandai Namco to release an emergency patch soon after due to players’ strong response. The negative feedback was mostly centered around adjustments to the Heat system that Bandai Namco allegedly made to prevent excessive rewards.

Despite a few hiccups, the most recent entry in the legendary fighting series has been well-received over the years. Tekken 8 sold over 3 million copies within its first year on the market, making it one of the best-selling games of 2024. The slow introduction of new characters and stages has kept the game alive, and crossovers, like the upcoming one with Yujiro Hanma, help to breathe life into the series that is now over 30 years old.
