Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Confirms Cut Content

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation game director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that one location from the original Final Fantasy 7 would not be included in the upcoming title. However, the vast world of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will still offer plenty of notable locations for players to discover and explore once the game is released.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be the decisive conclusion of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series. Following the end of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth at the Forgotten Capital, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will see Cloud and the rest of the cast deal with the looming threat of Meteor as it rushes toward The Planet. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s combat system will take things further with the introduction of FITS based on past Final Fantasy Jobs. These FITS include Black Mage, Summoner, Warrior, and other Jobs that have not yet been revealed by Square Enix.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Confirms Its First Minigame

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation game director Naoki Hamaguchi confirms that a highly-requested minigame will appear in the upcoming title.

Bone Village Will Not Appear in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation

While Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will expand the lore of the ongoing saga, Hamaguchi said that one piece of content from the original game was left on the cutting room floor. In an interview with RPG Site, Hamaguchi confirmed that Bone Village will not be included in Revelation. For context, the Bone Village was an excavation site in the original release of Final Fantasy 7. Players could participate in an excavation mini-game to dig up rare items. The excavation mini-game was the only way to obtain the Lunar Harp needed to enter the Forgotten Capital in the original FF7. The digging mini-game was not necessary to enter the Forgotten Capital in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, as it was tied to story progress in Chapter 14.

Hamaguchi stated that other locations, including Northwood and the Temple of the Ancients, could be revisited in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Given the events of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, it remains to be seen how the Northwood region will be depicted in Revelation. While Bone Village will remain absent from FF7 Revelation, Hamaguchi stated that regions like Wutai, Mideel, and Rocket Town will be included in the upcoming title. Additionally, the popular mini-game Queen’s Blood will be in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation alongside some changes and adjustments based on player feedback.

The story of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will also see the emergence of the Weapons, which are considered The Planet’s last line of defense against any threats against it. Hamaguchi said that at least one of these notorious Weapons, the Ruby Weapon, will be a boss in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. In the original FF7, the Ruby Weapon could be fought by running into it while traveling the Corel Desert on the world map. However, Hamaguchi kept a tight lip when asked about how Final Fantasy 7 Revelation would handle the Ruby Weapon. Hamaguchi said, “For the specific battle logic of Ruby Weapon, and how much of it is an actual homage to the original game, we’d love for players to see themselves.”

Given that Revelation is the subtitle of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga’s third part, the game’s story will still have some plot twists for players to discover. Time will tell what other surprises await fans once Final Fantasy 7 Revelation arrives next spring.
