Several new Gem Sprites are being added to Fortnite during a week of special events focused on finding, upgrading, and collecting the popular creatures. Fortnite has made Sprites a central part of its current Runners season, allowing players to secure collectible friends that provide useful abilities in later matches.
Sprites returned to Fortnite during Chapter 7 Season 3 as battlefield companions that grant passive powers when equipped. Players can bring a Sprite to an Extraction Site to permanently add it to their collection, then spend Sprite Dust to summon it in later matches. Leveling a Sprite strengthens its passive ability and improves the loot it provides. Sprites can also become stronger through eliminations and surviving Storm phases, creating a separate progression system outside the usual Victory Royale loop.

On August 2, 2026, Epic Games revealed this week’s full Sprite schedule through the official Fortnite Twitter account. Mastery Monday on August 3 increased the appearance rates of the rare Fortnite Legendary and Mythic Sprites while providing double leveling speed and Sprite Dust, followed by Peely Hours on August 4 and August 5 with boosted rates for several Sprite variants. New Sprite Day then brought the Gem lineup into the game on August 6, while Saturday’s Gem Hours will give collectors another event focused on the crystalline designs. The schedule also features several different Gem appearances, including versions inspired by existing Water, Earth, Demon, Aura, Zero Point, and Grim Sprites.

A Gem Llama Sprite previously arrived on July 30, bringing the available Gem collection to eight variants once the latest additions arrived. Although earlier reports suggested that Gem Punk would be part of the lineup, the variant does not appear to be included in the final lineup. The new designs are not purely cosmetic, either; Fortnite Gem Sprites also reduce fall damage by 30%, giving them a practical benefit in addition to their shiny visual designs. Although not super useful in a regular match, that bonus could be helpful when escaping from elevated positions, moving through mountainous terrain, or engaging in aggressive high-ground fights.
Fortnite Sprite locations vary considerably and are associated with particular locations or loot sources. Gem Water can appear around harbors and shores, while Gem Earth is found in forested areas and Gem Aura favors mountainous terrain. Gem Duck can appear inside the Mogul Vault, whereas Gem Demon, Gem Grim, and Gem Zero Point are tied to Sprite Chests, with Zero Point also appearing in Relic Chests. Those narrower spawn conditions could make some variants considerably harder to secure than others.
The Gem Hours events on Saturday, August 8, should provide another reason for players to search for any remaining variants after New Sprite Day, and further build their roster. Epic continues to treat Sprites as more than temporary match items, supporting them with a collection system, multiple rarities, alternate appearances, and recurring event periods. These latest additions may not dramatically change every match, but they give dedicated collectors several new targets and another good opportunity to expand their Fortnite Sprite collection.
