Fortnite is reportedly gearing up for an Overwatch crossover, according to a new report from a well-known leaker. The purported team-up would add another marquee franchise to Epic’s ever-expanding roster of collabs, but also mark one of Fortnite‘s most unexpected crossovers to date.

The newly surfaced information comes from Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, who has a long track record of verified scoops related to Epic’s hit battle royale game. Taking to Twitter on January 23, the insider shared one of their most bombastic claims yet.

Fortnite x Overwatch Crossover Reportedly Launching by Early Spring 2026

Writing in all caps, ShiinaBR proclaimed that a Fortnite crossover with Overwatch is launching in the next three months, i.e., before the end of April 2026. While the leaker did not provide any additional details, the very notion of a crossover implies the usual batch of themed skins, emotes, and other cosmetics. Some Fortnite collaborations debut alongside more comprehensive events, whereas others are launched in a vacuum. Although it’s currently unclear which approach this rumored Overwatch crossover will take, the high-profile nature of the partnership makes a full event launch more likely than a limited cosmetic drop.

What Makes a Fortnite x Overwatch Crossover So Unexpected?

Fortnite does cross-promotions constantly, collaborating with movies, TV shows, and real people, including musicians, athletes, actors, and content creators. It also doesn’t shy away from video game franchises, which are among the most common subjects of its collaborations. However, the leaked Overwatch crossover stands out as somewhat unusual due to its rival-coded nature. While the two games don’t occupy the same genre, Overwatch is neither part of a dormant franchise nor a single-player title; it is an active live-service shooter with overlapping audiences and similar monetization strategies, including a battle pass system and a cosmetics-driven business model.

Given that both Overwatch and Fortnite are active live-service games, this rumored collaboration may not be a one-way street. Typically, Epic Games simply pays licensing fees in order to procure new content for Fortnite. However, in this case, Blizzard may be more focused on boosting player engagement in its own game and could have feasibly negotiated a true cross-promotion, with cosmetics potentially appearing in both Overwatch and Fortnite.
