Fortnite Players Aren’t Happy With Upcoming Solo Leveling Crossover

Fortnite has shared a new teaser for its crossover with Solo Leveling: Arise, and some fans are unhappy that the skins are related to the gacha game and not the anime show. Epic Games has previously teased that Fortnite fans would see Sung Jin-Woo in the battle royale. Now, the protagonist is expected to arrive during the ongoing Chapter 7 Season 1, along with another fan-favorite character and more cosmetics.

Earlier in January, leaks hinted at Fortnite collaborating with the Solo Leveling brand. The rumors excited many players, considering that Solo Leveling became Crunchyroll’s highest-rated anime ever in late 2025 and even won Anime of the Year. Recently, Fortnite has been teasing the crossover through official social media posts with dialogue references to the franchise. After much anticipation, Epic Games revealed a first look at hero Sung Jin-Woo’s skin as part of an upcoming tournament. The developer recently unveiled a closer look at the first wave of Solo Leveling skins that will soon land on Fortnite, though they aren’t inspired by the manhwa or the anime series.

Fortnite Leak Reveals Gaming Crossover That Could Be Great News for Disney Fans

A prominent Fortnite leaker reveals that a major gaming crossover with Disney could be coming to Epic Games’ popular battle royale.

Fortnite’s Crossover with Solo Leveling: Arise Disappoints Anime Fans

In its latest promotional video, Fortnite showed off Jin-Woo’s in-game skin performing his iconic resurrection spell on Igris, the Blood-red Commander, suggesting that Igris will also receive a skin. However, some fans have shared their disappointment at Jin-Woo’s appearance in Fortnite. As some players have pointed out, his outfit is directly taken from Solo Leveling: Arise, which features a long black coat with multiple zippers. This contrasts with the anime version, which puts the character in more laid-back attire with a simple blue hoodie. For this reason, players are frustrated that Epic Games chose Jin-Woo’s “gacha design.” One fan suggested that they would be skipping the crossover and teased that their “wallet has never been safer.” Their post was echoed by 22k likes. Another post with 43k likes jested that the development team probably neglected the collaboration because it “had trouble staying awake to make it.”

Fortnite‘s trailer also credits rights to Netmarble, the studio behind Solo Leveling: Arise, further confirming that the crossover is with the game and not the anime series. On the other hand, some fans wondered if Fortnite could include more of Jin-Woo’s outfits from Solo Leveling: Arise as alternate skins. Many fans have also welcomed Igris’ Fortnite skin, as he is one of the strongest Shadow soldiers in Solo Leveling and a popular character from the anime’s first season. In the video, Igris is seen both in his original red armor and his Shadow form, so Epic Games may potentially launch these two skins. Fortnite has also confirmed that the collaboration will feature a “Godly Statuette” backbling and an “Ahjin Guild” emoticon. Earlier rumors hinted at a skin for Cha Hae-in as well, so fans should wait for an official look in the following days. The Fortnite and Solo Leveling: Arise crossover is expected to release on Friday, February 20, with the upcoming update.

Although many players had hoped that Fortnite would partner up with the anime series, Epic Games’ decision to team up with Solo Leveling: Arise instead might relate to the anime’s current state. It is worth noting that Solo Leveling Season 3 has been delayed indefinitely. Meanwhile, the game series has been more active since the release of Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive in 2025. Regardless, the anime franchise remains one of the most popular in recent years, so its crossover with Fortnite could still prove quite successful.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 has brought multiple major collaborations. The season’s main focus has been South Park, but players have seen the launch of more new skins for KPop Demon Hunters, SpongeBob SquarePants, and more. A Fortnite and Honkai: Star Rail collaboration is scheduled for February 26 as well, with skins for Kafka and Blade, and fans can expect more details about it in the upcoming weeks.
