The newest Fortnite season, which is all about The Simpsons, is putting up big numbers. Epic Games announced today that, after the first 48 hours, the new Simpsons season of Fortnite helped propel the game to the “biggest number of new and returning Fortnite players” since the Holiday 2024 season.
What’s more, Epic said the first of multiple Simpson shorts on Disney+ became the platform’s No. 1 program. “Move over Shelbyville,” Epic said, referencing Springfield’s rival next-door neighbor.
Epic did not announce a specific player figure, but data showed that the game eclipsed 2.7 million concurrent players over the weekend when the Simpsons update came out. That’s a massive figure, but it’s nowhere close to Fortnite’s all-time record of 14.3 million current players in November 2024.
The new Fortnite season, which runs through November 29, brings a new Springfield map to Fortnite featuring locations like Moe’s Tavern, the Kwik-E-Mart, and the Springfield nuclear plant. There is also a new Simpsons battle pass, which includes skins for characters like Homer and Marge, along with variants like Stupid Sexy Flanders. Epic is also offering up a free Kang and Kodos glider for people who link their Epic and MyDisney accounts.
Looking ahead, Fortnite dataminers believe they’ve found evidence pointing to future collaborations with SpongeBob SquarePants and Harry Potter.
