Forza Horizon 6 Map Officially Revealed

Forza Horizon 6 Map Officially Revealed

Forza Horizon 6 developer Playground Games has just revealed the new game’s full map, which sees players journey across a number exotic and urban areas in Japan. The Forza Horizon 6 map joins an impressive pedigree of other interesting locations that have featured in the arcade racing series, spanning from Mexico to the United Kingdom.

Slated to release on May 19, Forza Horizon 6 is one of Xbox’s tent pole releases this year, joining the likes of Fable. And there’s plenty of reason for fans to get excited about the racing series’ next entry. The Tokyo map is the largest in Forza history, with the Tokyo City area reportedly being five times larger than other urban environments in the franchise. With the dynamic weather system making a return, the map should offer players plenty of variety as they zip around in supercars.

A stunning new video offers a first look at the breathtaking landscapes and vibrant biomes awaiting drivers in this massive global racing debut.

Forza Horizon 6’s Full Map Revealed

Playground Games shared the full Japan map on the game’s official Twitter account, revealing the intricate coastal roads that span the area’s geography. While the map changes seasonally — Playground Games shared the summer configuration here — there’s still plenty to give players an idea of what to expect from Forza Horizon 6 when it releases in May.

As far as the finer details go, Forza Horizon 6 appears to be checking all the boxes as far as what players know and love — with some new surprises, too. Beaches line the southern coast, while the northern region appears to be more mountainous. Winding off-road tracks connect to the map’s paved portions and urban environment. That’s great to see, as nailing the dichotomy of off-road and paved portions is crucial. Part of Forza Horizon’s appeal is how it allows players to transition from flashy sports cars to mud-covered rally trucks, so it’s encouraging that Playground Games has woven the two road systems together once again.

While the Horizon series usually offers plenty in the way of unique activities for fans to enjoy, Japan is an interesting setting for a few reasons. People tend to have a very specific fantasy of racing through the streets of Tokyo thanks to media like Tokyo Drift. To really satiate fans, Playground Games needs to be mindful of those pre-conceived notions, ensuring that both urban and rural areas allow fans to live out the scenarios they’ve dreamed up.

If Forza Horizon 6 previews are any indication, Playground Games is moving in the right direction. The studio is paying special attention to seemingly simple elements like parking garages, where players often have car meets. By giving fans curated room to perform feats like impressive drifts, the studio can capture the magic of what makes the Horizon franchise special.

With Japan being a long-requested locale for the franchise and an even stronger emphasis of player freedom, one can hope that Forza Horizon 6 sticks the landing and evolves the series. There’s certainly plenty for fans to look forward to, especially as the seasons change in-game and the map begins to evolve.
