Forza Horizon 6’s Save Loss Bug May Finally Be Fixed

Forza Horizon 6’s Save Loss Bug May Finally Be Fixed

One of the more notorious issues with Forza Horizon 6 has seemingly been fixed for good, ensuring that player’s save data won’t be negatively impacted anymore. In what seems to always be a massive launch, Forza Horizon 6 still managed to decimate existing records, even nearing almost 200,000 on Steam during the game’s Early Access period. Needless to say, there was plenty of excitement from fans waiting to explore Playground’s version of Japan.

Despite the impressive sales and player numbers, it wasn’t a flawless launch. One of the biggest issues that fans reported was an issue with Forza Horizon 6 save data being lost. Reports started coming in about a week after the game’s launch, with some players saying their entire campaign progress had been completely wiped. Not too long after, Playground Games acknowledged the bug and began working on a fix, offering workarounds to try and prevent save data corruption. The eventual patch that arrived was only able to lower the chance of the save bug happening, but a more permanent solution would take a bit longer.

Forza Horizon 6 Releases Series 2 Update

Playground Games releases a new update for Forza Horizon 6 ahead of Series 2, making adjustments and adding plenty of quality of life improvements.

Forza Horizon 6 Save Bug Gets Fixed

A new Tweet from the official Forza Support account highlighted a new Xbox Series X/S console update that players can now download. According to the messaging, the console update would be able to resolve “some of the known data loss scenarios in Forza Horizon 6.” In addition, a second change would further reduce the chance that the full game save data loss would happen. Looking at the official page, the post alos confirms that if data loss does occur, players will see a message the next time the game loads, allowing them to select the Xbox’s cloud save option to restore the most recent saved version of the game. Players may still experience some progression loss based on when the game saves, but the damage will be minimized to a single session rather than the full campaign.

Unfortunately, details on what exactly was changed or fixed weren’t shared. While the Forza Support post points to Xbox, the June 30 patch notes for the last system update remain vague at best, only stating that the patch made “General stability and performance improvements.” So for now, Forza Horizon 6 players will have to take the studio’s word that the frustrating save bug has not only been neutralized, but that it won’t be coming back.

While the save bug was one of the bigger issues impacting Forza Horizon 6, it wasn’t the only one. Not nearly as bad, players began reporting that the Drivatar AI was seemingly overtuned, making races much more difficult than they should have been. In fact, the community rallied around a common Forza Horizon 6 AI villain named Bowie_knife99. The drivatar quickly became the focus of memes and jokes online, being the root cause of everything bad that happened. Thankfully, Playground Games was able to apply an update bringing these racers back in line.

Another issue which impacted players was with The Eliminator, a mode that brings a battle royale-style experience into the game. Unfortunately, there was an exploit that let players farm billions of in-game currency, essentially breaking Forza Horizon 6‘s economy and Auction House. In response, Playground Games disabled that part of the game to work on a fix, but the studio provided a gesture of goodwill to players for the trouble, giving away a free 2021 McLaren Sabre in Forza Horizon 6 alongside the patch that resolved the exploit.
