Sony has officially unveiled the free PlayStation Plus games for January 2026, and it includes some free games for PS4 gamers to enjoy as well. At the start of 2025, Sony made the shock announcement that PlayStation Plus was going to phase out focus for the PS4, starting in January 2026. From that month on, PS Plus might still include PS4 games, but it would be because they are cross-gen games.
While millions of PlayStation gamers have upgraded to the PS5, there are still those that are still gaming on the PS4. PS4 gamers that want to truly get the most out of PlayStation Plus will still want to upgrade to a PS5 sooner rather than later, but the good news is that the January 2026 lineup actually includes a couple of PS4 titles. Beyond that, the lineup includes three games, so worries that Sony would reduce the number of free PS Plus games every month starting in January appear to be unfounded.
PS Plus Is Losing One of Its Most Emotionally-Charged Games and 3 Other Titles in January 2026
PlayStation Plus subscribers have to say goodbye to one of the service’s most emotionally-charged games and three other titles in January.
Starting Tuesday, January 6, PlayStation Plus subscribers can add Need for Speed Unbound, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper to their digital libraries at no additional cost. Need for Speed Unbound is exclusive to PS5 gamers with PS Plus since it never had a PS4 version release, while Core Keeper and Epic Mickey have both PS4 and PS5 versions available.
List of Free PS Plus Games for January 2026
- Need for Speed Unbound
- Epic Mickey: Rebrushed
- Core Keeper
For those unfamiliar with the games, Need for Speed Unbound is the latest entry in EA’s long-running Need for Speed racing game franchise. Developed by Criterion Games, Need for Speed Unbound blends realistic racing graphics with over-the-top, cel-shaded special effects. It has a unique art style and earned mostly positive reviews from critics in 2022. Racing game fans that have yet to check it out should definitely be sure to add Need for Speed Unbound to their digital libraries come January 6.
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, meanwhile, is a remake of the 2010 Wii exclusive 3D platformer. A love letter to old-school Disney, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed brings the Wii cult classic to modern standards with sharper visuals, while still maintaining the core gameplay that made the OG a hit with fans.
And finally, Core Keeper may very well be the crown jewel of the PS Plus January 2026 lineup. A survival/sandbox game that has often been compared to titles like Minecraft and Stardew Valley, Core Keeper‘s full release dropped in 2024 after a couple of years of early access to rave reviews. The game features procedurally generated worlds and co-op for up to eight players. Playing Core Keeper with friends is what takes it to the next level, so if you haven’t tried it yet, you should definitely give it a shot while it’s free on PS Plus.
Last Chance to Claim 5 Free PS Plus Games from December
Need for Speed Unbound, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper are the free PS Plus games for January 2026 and will be available starting Tuesday, January 6. Between now and then, PS Plus subscribers still have time to claim the free games for December 2025, which include five titles instead of the usual three.
Until Monday, January 5, PS Plus subscribers can claim Killing Floor 3, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Neon White, Synduality: Echo of Ada, and The Outlast Trials. Killing Floor 3 is a co-op FPS, Outlast Trials is a multiplayer survival-horror game, and LEGO Horizon Adventures is a co-op, family-friendly retelling of the Horizon Zero Dawn story. Synduality: Echo of Ada is an extraction shooter, and finally, Neon White is a stylish first-person puzzle/shooter game with a unique card system. PS Plus subscribers should be sure to claim them for their digital libraries while they’re still free through the service.
