Sony’s State of Play brought a lot of PlayStation announcements, including another look at the upcoming Most Wanted mode in Ghost of Yotei while confirming the return of Jin Sakai. As Ghost of Yotei approaches its one-year anniversary, Sucker Punch has tons of plans to celebrate, previously announcing a new complete version of the game and new content to enjoy.
October is not only the 1-year anniversary month for Ghost of Yotei, but it’ll also see the arrival of the game’s highly anticipated DLC. As part of the Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition version or as a separate purchase, players are getting a new expansion known as Echoes of Sekigahara as well as a new game mode called Most Wanted. The release will also be joined by a free update for all players, unlocking a new Beauty of Yotei mode, additional tracks for Watanabe Mode, and being able to use transmog to apply a visual look without losing stats. Most Wanted mode also has a few tricks up its sleeve thanks to a brand-new trailer.
Jin Sakai Returns in Ghost of Yotei’s Most Wanted Mode
During Sony’s State of Play for September 3, Ghost of Yotei revealed its upcoming Most Wanted game mode through a new trailer. The combat survival mode has players selecting a bounty from a board, one of the Yotei Six members. However, players will need to work their way to them by first taking down waves of enemies and minibosses. Each wave completed unlocks new perks to help players craft powerful builds as well as earning money to spend outside of runs to upgrade weapons, purchase new techniques, charms, and additional playable characters.

Each character has its own specialties and unique weapons, but what was truly surprising is that one of the unlockable characters is none other than Ghost of Tsushima‘s protagonist Jin Sakai. As the fourth playable character, Jin will look familiar to fans of the franchise, though Sucker Punch did confirm that he has received upgrades to fit within Ghost of Yotei as well. Jin not only has his katana, but will be able to use all four of his original stances, with his ultimate being the Dance of Wrath, allowing him to target and disarm multiple enemies. Ghost Stance is set as his Kill Streak, terrifying enemies around him and killing them in a single hit.
Outside of Jin, players will start their journey as Atsu, who is equipped with two katanas, as well as the Blind Bomb and Blinding Powder. Her ultimate allows her to summon two wolves and Onryo’s Howl is her kill streak. The kusarigama master Oyuki is the next playable character, who also comes with a rifle and can use her Shadow Killer ultimate to assassinate two enemies using smoke. Shadow Shinobi is her killstreak, which summons Nine Tail allies. Finally, Nagato is the other playable character, a new NPC set to debut in the upcoming Echoes of Sekigahara story. He comes with multiple weapons, like the spear, pistol, long bow, and short bow, and his Gambler’s Mark lets him fire a guarantee headshot at two enemies.
While the Ghost of Tsushima‘s Director’s Cut ultimately brought the game to PC players, things are a bit different this time around. For those expecting to see tyhis expand beyond the PS5, it was revealed earlier this year that Ghost of Yotei won’t be coming to PC earlier this year. It seems single-player games, like Ghost of Yotei and Saros will remain console exclusives, while multiplayer-focused games like Marathon and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will continue to be multi-platform titles to help draw a bigger audience of players.
