FOllowing the most recent content update for Grounded 2, Obsidian Entertainment releases a brand-new Year 2 content roadmap, giving fans an idea of what to expect and when for the Early Access title. Originally launching into Early Access over a year ago on July 29, 2025, Grounded 2 continues to receive constant updates and new content, further fleshing out the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids-inspired adventure survival game.
While still in Early Access, Grounded 2 hit its biggest milestone yet with the launch of the major Into The Abyss update. In addition to adding a ton of new content and the opening of Brookhollow Park’s pond region, Grounded 2 has finally arrived on PlayStation 5, opening the experience up for a whole new group of players. However, the biggest question in mind for most players is when exactly the game will reach its full 1.0 version. For now, Obsidian has completely updated its content roadmap, providing a newly refreshed Year 2 version for players to check out.
Grounded 2 Year 2 Early Access Roadmap
After releasing a Grounded 2 content roadmap at the start of 2026, Obsidian Entertainment has finally provided an updated look at what players can expect through the second full year in Early Access. Year 2 is officially underway as Into The Abyss launched on August 11, putting an exclamation point on the game’s first year in Early Access with new locations like Skunk Pond open to explore, additional weapons, armor, and other features. Swimming has also been overhauled, along with fast travel, ziplines, and plenty more to check out. For many, the biggest piece of Into The Abyss is the addition of PlayStation 5, letting more people into Brookhollow Park.

With that milestone behind them, Obsidian announced the new Year 2 roadmap with a Fall and Winter update revealed alongside a lengthy list of future plans. Of course, things could change since the game is in Early Access, but the next major update, which doesn’t yet have a name, is set for launch in the Fall. Players will be able to explore a new location called the Rotting Wood Pile, and the Potato Beetle will be available as a new Buggy vehicle in Grounded 2. Two creatures are also teased for this update, the termite and another which is currently hidden behind spray paint, though the red ant icon indicates it is something that the community has been asking for.
Following that, players will need to wait until the winter months for the next update. The details are a bit more vague since this one is further out, but there’s a new location, a mechanic only known as Salty, and new buggies. The Winter update also teases a new story boss, but obviously details are non-existent at the moment. Grounded 2‘s Omni-tool, an all-in-one solution that eliminates the need for individual tools like an axe or hammer, is also getting a fourth tier of upgrades in the winter update as well.
Beyond that, Obsidian has a long list of features and content which currently don’t have a planned launch timeframe. Two new locations, one of which expands on The Abyss, which has only just arrived within the August update. Interestingly enough, the Future Plans section includes new park bosses and “Colossi” alongside various other improvements and features. However, one question that doesn’t have an answer is when the full 1.0 launch is coming. Considering Into the Abyss is known as Version 0.5, it seems to be the halfway point, so in theory, Grounded 2 could potentially be fully ready to launch by Summer 2027.
