Purported Grand Theft Auto 6 cover girl Gabriela Chiquin has issued a new statement about her apparent likeness on the game cover. Not long after GTA 6‘s cover reveal, fans on the internet quickly found her and highlighted how much she looked like the cover—same colored outfit in older and current images, a similar hairstyle, and similar facial features. As of this writing, neither Rockstar Games nor Chiquin have confirmed she is the inspiration, but the latter has commented on it twice before the latest.
As rumors surfaced online that Chiquin—an influencer, DJ, and musician from Venezuela—was the time-honored “cover girl” in Grand Theft Auto games, she posted on Instagram, “They say I look like the brunette in GTA 6.” Outlets like Push Square have also reported her saying: “I want to thank the entire GTA community for so much love. I never imagined receiving so many messages, comments, and memes.” The latest from Chiquin would then mark the third comment on her apparent likeness on the game’s cover.

Chiquin Says Rockstar Games Made a “Good Choice” for the GTA 6 Cover Girl
In an Instagram post where she is sporting the original outfit that led fans to her, she states that using her likeness might have been “a good choice” by Rockstar Games. This comment possibly echoes the sheer popularity and outpouring of fans she’s seen, which would only be a fraction of what Rockstar Games and Take-Two have achieved with GTA 6 already. For example, one report indicates that GTA 6 made $1 billion in just an hour, although dust has yet to settle. Nonetheless, even a small percentage of that attention is no doubt beneficial for Chiquin.
Who’s That Character?

Identify the silhouettes before time runs out.
It’s worth noting that Chiquin’s role as “GTA 6 Cover Girl”—on the assumption that she was indeed the inspiration, which neither she nor Rockstar Games has confirmed—is likely just that. Sometimes these characters have a small role in games, but more often than not, they are a cover tone setter with no appearance in the game. Vice City was the last GTA game where the role appeared in-universe, so that’s an interesting, if coincidental, fun fact. Neither the GTA 4 nor the GTA 5 cover girl were involved in their respective games at release. That doesn’t mean they were not without drama, and the GTA 6 cover girl is still too “new” to know if this will head that way (however unlikely it seems at this juncture).
Grand Theft Auto 5 developer Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive were sued by Lindsay Lohan in 2014 over claims that the character Lacey Jonas, as well as the GTA 5 cover girl and associated marketing materials, were all based on her likeness, voice, and clothing line. Rockstar/Take-Two argued that the character was a generic young blonde woman and was a general satirical take on the stereotype, not a direct depiction of Lindsay Lohan. Lohan’s GTA 5 lawsuit was later dismissed.

Overall, whether or not she is legit the cover girl, it seems Chiquin is enjoying the moment, and no one has stepped up to challenge “her” claim. Instead, whether or not it is her, it does seem like Rockstar made a “good choice” for the GTA 6 cover girl’s appearance and influence on fans.
