GTA 6 Fans Are Hoping and Praying Pre-Orders Go Live Soon

GTA 6 Fans Are Hoping and Praying Pre-Orders Go Live Soon

When it comes to video games, there are a few topics that are practically always in vogue. Debates around live-service games and microtransactions and the enduring console wars are two such topics, and right alongside them falls the idea of pre-ordering. On one side, there are detractors who despise the concept, citing games that have turned out to be bad as reasons to avoid pre-ordering. Additionally, games always being available digitally means there’s no reason to reserve a copy. As for those in favor of pre-orders, special bonuses like exclusive outfits and early access are cited as positives, while some like to lock down their games when they know they have the funds to spare. The ability to cancel pre-orders or watch streams to get more information before release also plays a part in the defense. Despite these two camps of gamers being at war for years, both sides are looking forward to pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 6 to go live.

For any franchise that has had slip-ups, from the Assassin’s Creed series to the Battlefield IP, internet users can be seen saying “remember, no pre-orders” in the comments sections of promotional material. A nod to the No Russian campaign mission from the original MW2, this phrase can easily spark the debate around the concept of pre-ordering.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is arguably the most anticipated video game ever made, something reflected through its record-breaking trailer releases and the community’s unhinged breakdowns of the footage. Put simply, many are desperate for GTA 6, as even those that have no interest in the franchise are curious about how the game will look and if it will live up to the hype. These questions can’t be answered until the game actually releases, and with the new GTA already delayed once before, there are doubts that its planned November 2026 launch will actually hold up. Enter pre-orders, as though the game could be delayed again even after they’re announced, the option being made available would go a long way to giving fans some faith that Rockstar will keep its promise.

It’s Officially Time to Start Worrying About Grand Theft Auto 6’s Release Date

Grand Theft Auto 6 has now entered its final pre-release stretch where continued radio silence from Rockstar can still be viewed as normal.

Why Are GTA 6 Fans So Eager For Pre-Orders To Open?

To be clear, though GTA 6 is a special game that’s essentially going to be a big event for the entire industry to plan around, it’s probably not going to push pre-order fans to change their views. At best, it would be treated as an exception that’s being allowed purely because of Rockstar’s track record, and at worst, pre-order haters will still say they refuse to do so. Even those players will probably be happy to see pre-orders go live, as if nothing else, the announcement suggests that Rockstar really is locked in to the game’s current launch date. Whatever the reasons may be, as indicated by the above post from Reddit user BrandsXavier, many are clamoring for the May 21 Take-Two investor’s call purely because it is likely to reveal when pre-orders open.

Another potential reason for pre-orders to be so hotly anticipated is that they likely won’t be coming alone. Another information blowout for Grand Theft Auto 6 will probably come alongside them, meaning more information on mechanics like vehicles and wildlife, more looks at the characters and gunplay, and maybe even some concrete info on the next iteration of GTA Online. And, of course, a new trailer pushing the pre-order info to as many people as possible would help Rockstar get an idea of just how massive the game’s launch is really going to be.

The final thing that could have GTA 6 fans clamoring for pre-orders enough to make them a desired outcome of an investor’s call is the potential bonuses that could be included. In GTA 5, the bonuses were fairly tame — an atomic blimp vehicle and $1 million worth of in-game cash (split evenly between the campaign and online modes) — and the same could happen here. Unless Rockstar wants to do something different and offer up something like a free month of the GTA+ subscription service, then a special vehicle and/or a decent chunk of currency would be a safe bet. And even in that scenario, many are likely to be excited, as GTA 5 has made hundreds of millions of dollars off Shark Cards alone.

May 21 is a Make-or-Break Moment for GTA 6

If the upcoming investor’s call for Take-Two and Rockstar Games brings no info on pre-orders or the game itself, then the likelihood of GTA 6 actually launching in 2026 comes into question. This is exactly what commenters like Sixthk are worried about, as silence now means no new trailer until another investors call, which is expected for late June. Redditor Ramaloke would find another delay “heartbreaking,” while joshua182 claims “hype really died” for them already, as the last delay was a major letdown. Players are clearly tired of getting so close to launch only for Rockstar to pull the rug out from under them and delay the game for a significant amount of time, so history hopefully won’t be repeating itself with the next call. Instead, it’s clear as day that many Grand Theft Auto fans would like to see pre-orders opened, whether it’s purely to solidify the 2026 launch or because they genuinely can’t wait to pre-order a copy.
