GTA 6 Fans Are So Desperate for News They’re Counting the Trees in the Trailer

GTA 6 Fans Are So Desperate for News They’re Counting the Trees in the Trailer

It’s been a little bit since there’s been an update for Grand Theft Auto 6, and one fan is so desperate for news that they actually counted all the trees that appear in a single frame of the trailer. GTA 6 is one of the most highly anticipated video games of all time, and fans of the series have been waiting 13 years since the last entry in the series.

GTA 6 will be released November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. After numerous delays, fans remain skeptical about whether the game will actually arrive on that date or if there might be another delay in the future. Developer Rockstar Games has not offered any indication that another delay might happen, and it’s possible the game could arrive as planned later this year.

GTA 6 Leak Hints at More Advanced NPCs Than Any Game in the Series

A new leak for GTA 6 suggests that Rockstar is making huge changes to the NPCs players will encounter as they explore Leonida.

Counting the Trees in GTA 6

In a post on Reddit, user Temporary-Cicada-392 revealed that a single shot from GTA 6‘s trailer features 14,287 trees. The fan says that their reason for counting the trees was to “get a real metric on the map density.” Based on this shot, the user concludes that the game’s engine is producing foliage four times as dense as what was seen in Red Dead Redemption 2. A lot of work was put into figuring all this out, and the user admits that the total number might be off by “maybe a couple hundred.”

It’s entirely possible that the actual number of trees in that shot is much different, but it’s unlikely that anyone else is going to put forth the time and effort to debunk that figure. It might seem absurd that anyone would go to such lengths to dissect trailers, but it’s not all that surprising. GTA 6 trailers and screenshots have been thoroughly analyzed, with fans desperate to glean some new information that the community might have missed at first glance.

As the release date draws closer, and more information is released, fans will continue to break down everything that comes out of Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. If all that wasn’t enough, GTA 6 fans are even digging into job listings, hoping to discover details about who is being hired and what they might bring to the game. This type of thing isn’t uncommon for modern video games, but the scale at which it’s happening shows just how excited people are for the next Grand Theft Auto. Thirteen years between entries is a long time for a successful series, and it’s been an agonizing journey to get to this point.

After all this time, there’s going to be a lot of pressure on the developers to deliver an experience that lives up to the hype. It’s likely GTA 6‘s release date will be addressed during Take-Two Interactive’s earnings call in May. One way or another, the game seems to be nearing the finish line, but that call should give fans an idea whether another delay is likely. If the publisher is noncommittal about the November release date, it could be a sign that the game will need a bit more time before launch.
