A Grand Theft Auto 6 leaker has revealed more information about the highly-anticipated game’s gameplay. It’s hard to believe, but we are finally in the home stretch to Grand Theft Auto 6‘s release date. Barring any unexpected last-minute delays, GTA 6 will release worldwide on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19.
Even though the GTA 6 release date is mere months away at this point, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the game. Rockstar itself has only shared some screenshots and two trailers, neither of which featured proper gameplay and were instead focused on the game’s story and characters. On August 27, an Extended Look at GTA 6 will premiere on Netflix at 3pm EST before rolling out to Rockstar’s YouTube channel six hours later. While unconfirmed, it’s highly likely that the Extended Look will be the first real glimpse at what GTA 6 gameplay has in store. While fans wait to see the game for themselves, a leak may give them an idea of what to expect.
GTA 6 leaker HipHopGamer recently shared a clip from the Brands in Play podcast of him talking about the game. In the tweet accompanying the clip, HipHopGamer claims to have “attended a Netflix gaming event earlier this year” and that the “car combat details and fighting mechanics” in GTA 6 are “next level.” In the clip, HipHopGamer talks about how GTA 6 is going to be more than a video game, with things like advertising campaigns potentially launched within it. HipHopGamer teased that the gameplay in GTA 6 will feel “completely different” from previous games. “Even the process of stealing a car and getting out, certain gameplay things you can do is unbelievable.”
If GTA 6‘s open world can be updated in accordance with marketing campaigns and things of that nature, it could be massive for the game’s long-term revenue. It wouldn’t be the first time that something like this has happened in a video game, but GTA 6 could take the concept to new heights.
One has to imagine that content like this would largely be focused on GTA 6‘s online multiplayer mode, which has yet to be even announced. The success of GTA Online means that a GTA 6 online multiplayer mode is inevitable, but Rockstar is keeping quiet about it for now. It’s probably too much to hope to see the online mode at the Netflix event, but time will tell.
Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay has ridiculously high expectations to live up to, but if anyone can get it done, it’s Rockstar Games. Rockstar’s track record for the GTA series is ridiculous, with every main series game since Grand Theft Auto 3 becoming one of the highest-rated video games of all time. Unless GTA 6 is broken at launch or has some other kind of major problem we don’t know about yet, chances are that it will join other games in the series at the very top of review aggregate sites like Metacritic. Grand Theft Auto fans will have a much better idea of what to expect from the game when the Extended Look drops on Netflix on August 27.
