GTA 6 Marketing is Starting Soon, Says Take-Two CEO

Take-Two Interactive’s chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, has finally dropped a hint about when the promotional campaign for Grand Theft Auto 6 will officially get underway. While many fans have been biting their nails over potential delays, the head of the company behind the series seems very optimistic about the road ahead. During a recent high-profile industry event, the CEO discussed the general timeline for when the public will see more of GTA 6. The executive teased that the wait for new footage won’t be much longer. This discussion took place during a gathering of industry titans focused on the intersection of gaming, technology, and entertainment.

The setting for these big revelations was the inaugural iicon event in Las Vegas, an industry gathering organized by the Entertainment Software Association. This convention has essentially stepped in to fill the void left by E3, acting as a meeting ground for the biggest names in the business, including representatives from Nintendo and Ubisoft. Before the focus shifted to Rockstar’s upcoming blockbuster, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson took the stage to talk about the future of game development and the role of artificial intelligence in quality assurance. Interestingly, the industry as a whole is seeing a push toward new hardware and accessibility, similar to Valve’s recently unveiled Steam Controller and Steam Frame ecosystem, which aims to make PC gaming more seamless in the living room. This broader context of technological growth sets the stage for what many consider to be the most important release in modern entertainment history.

GTA 6 Confirms Summer 2026 Plans, Reaffirms Release Date

Take-Two Interactive provides fans with a highly anticipated update regarding GTA 6, as the studio reveals big plans for Summer 2026.

The Road to November 2026 and GTA 6 Marketing Milestones

When the conversation finally turned to the next Grand Theft Auto, Zelnick remained cautious but encouraging about the project’s status. Variety interviewer Jenny Maas pressed for details on the marketing rollout (via GameFile), and while Zelnick wouldn’t give a specific calendar day, he noted that the company would spin up marketing “soon.” This push is expected to ignite as early as this summer, potentially coinciding with Take-Two’s delayed earnings call on May 21. Addressing the immense pressure of living up to the hype, Zelnick shared his philosophy on the game’s production. “What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history – and it’s a pretty daunting challenge. If we do that, and if we’re of service to our customers, then the upside will take care of itself,” he stated. This focus on quality suggests that Rockstar is aiming for a level of polish that justifies the long wait since the first trailer.

Despite the rumors of a possible pushback into 2027, the CEO seemed to double down on the current launch window. He even made a lighthearted prediction about the impact GTA 6 will have on the workforce when it finally drops. “I expect a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19,” Zelnick joked, effectively confirming the November 19 lease date as the current internal target. As for the cost of such an extensive experience, there has been plenty of internet chatter about a possible $100 price tag for the standard version. However, Zelnick emphasized a fair approach to pricing during the iicon talk. He explained that “consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery,” suggesting GTA 6’s price will remain in line with other modern $70 titles.

The atmosphere around the project is starting to shift, as evidenced by Rockstar’s recent uptick in fan interactions on social media platforms. This renewed activity is often a sign that the developer is getting ready to open the floodgates for GTA 6 pre-orders and new announcements. Beyond the world of crime in Vice City, Zelnick also surprised attendees by responding to a “deep cut” question about the future of the L.A. Noire franchise. When asked if the company was looking into doing more with the 1940s detective title, he simply said, “Yes,” though he quickly clarified that there are no official announcements at this time. As Zelnick put it: “The goal of our business is to make more and better hits than anyone else. And the goal of our enterprise is to become the number one entertainment company on earth, which, in case you don’t know, we aren’t.”

As the industry prepares for a summer full of showcases like the Summer Game Fest, the anticipation for a third trailer continues to reach a fever pitch. If the company sticks to its “soon” marketing promise, the next few weeks could change the landscape of the 2026 holiday season entirely. With the CEO expressing total confidence that no more delays are in the cards, fans can finally start marking their calendars with a bit more certainty. The coming months will likely be the loudest in gaming history as events finally move toward the release of the most anticipated sequel of all time.
