Grand Theft Auto 6‘s second trailer was released all the way back in May 2025. Over a year later, fans are still waiting for the next trailer. Now, some sneaky website updates, a leaker with a track record offering a hint, and a few other, stranger details have convinced many GTA fans that…something is happening soon. Soonish. Probably.
Let’s start with the news that kicked everything off. On July 28, reliable leaker and insider NateTheHate held a Q&A on Twitter and was asked if he knew anything about GTA 6. He didn’t want to share too much until closer to launch, but did provide this tease: “I expect to see a fair bit of GTA 6 next month.” He then clarified, as some weren’t sure, that he meant August. This got a lot of GTA fans riled up.
And then on Wednesday, iGrandTheftAuto, a popular content creator and resources website in the GTA community, reported that they had spotted some backend changes being made to the Grand Theft Auto 6 website.
“There’s now been 3 minor updates to the website today,” tweeted iGrandTheftAuto. “It certainly looks like something might be happening soon. If not later today, keep a close eye on Rockstar and the GTA 6 site tomorrow. No guarantees, but this is definitely unusual!”
When asked if the creator had noticed similar updates to the website before the cover reveal and pre-order information dropped in June, iGrandTheftAuto confirmed they had spotted similar activity a day before. “Last time I detected a change out of the blue, the cover art and pre-order announcement dropped the next day. Doesn’t mean that’ll happen this time, but they’re definitely working on something.”
The GTA community did what it normally does when stuff like this happens: It went wild. On Reddit and other parts of the web, people began posting memes referencing hopium and messages either claiming they believed we were about to see trailer three or criticizing everyone for once again getting worked up over rumors and speculation. And because GTA fans love connecting dots and trying to find patterns, people noticed that Rotten Tomatoes’ gaming YouTube channel just uploaded GTA 6 trailer two and was being coy in the comments. Likely this is just the brand taking advantage of the GTA 6 hype to get some eyeballs on what sounds like a rebrand or relaunch of the channel. But some fans took this as just one more piece of evidence.
A more interesting piece of evidence that some GTA 6 news or even a new trailer is coming soon is that Take-Two’s next investor call is on August 7. So if trailer three dropped in the next few days, it would be right before that call. And Rockstar has, in the past, timed marketing and announcements near and around these Take-Two investor calls. Hmm. And let’s not forget that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said earlier this year that the GTA 6 marketing blitz would start in summer.
So what to believe? Realistically, we know Rockstar is going to release a new trailer or video of some kind in the not-so-distant future. GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19. That’s not far away, really. And a game the size of GTA 6 is going to have a massive marketing push, which we still haven’t really seen yet. There’s only so much time left between now and November, so unless there’s a delay (which seems extremely unlikely), Rockstar is going to have to share more GTA 6 news with the public sooner rather than later. Maybe that happens tomorrow? We’ll find out soon enough.
