Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most highly-anticipated games of all time, and so it’s a shame that millions of gamers won’t get to play it when it launches later this year. The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been an excruciating one for franchise fans. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5, released in 2013, so it’s been a staggering 13 years between entries.

The good news is that it seems highly unlikely that the game will be delayed again, meaning that the announced Grand Theft Auto 6 release date of November 19 is one fans should be able to safely circle on their calendars. When the GTA 6 release date rolls around on November 19, it will likely smash records and instantly become one of the most successful games of all time — despite the fact that millions of gamers will be missing out on the action.

‘We Are in the Endgame Now’ GTA 6 Marketing About to Ramp Up

The clock is officially ticking down to the next phase of Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive’s Grand Theft Auto 6 marketing plans.

GTA 6 is Skipping PC at Launch

Millions of gamers will be missing out on GTA 6 for a couple of different reasons. The most impactful issue is the fact that GTA 6 will not have a PC port at launch. Rockstar Games has a history of favoring consoles over PCs, with PC ports of its games coming months or years down the line. No release window for the GTA 6 PC port has been announced at the time of this writing, and in fact, a PC version hasn’t even been confirmed yet. So if you want to play GTA 6 at launch on November 19, you must own either a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X/S.

The lack of a GTA 6 PC port isn’t the only reason why the game will be unavailable to millions of gamers. The other issue is that Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two does not sell its games in Russia, meaning Russian gamers will not be able to play the game. The Russian government is looking to ban GTA 6 anyway, though, so even if Take-Two did decide to start selling its game in the region again, it’s likely it would have been blocked from sale regardless.

GTA 6 Online Will Also Be Inaccessible for Millions

Other countries will have no problem playing Grand Theft Auto 6‘s single-player component, but they may find it trickier to access the game’s online mode. While it has yet to be officially revealed or detailed in any way, the unprecedented financial success of GTA Online means that an online mode for GTA 6 is a guarantee. However, new regulations in various countries will mean that millions of gamers won’t be able to access the mode without going through some age verification process.

One of the most notable examples of this is Australia, where age verification laws will keep some GTA 6 players from playing online. Obviously this means that those that aren’t old enough won’t be able to play GTA 6‘s online mode, which is arguably a good thing depending on who you ask, but it also means those unwilling to play ball with the age verification system won’t be able to access the mode either. Age verification laws are controversial, but seem to be coming more widespread, so it could be an even bigger issue by the time GTA 6 launches later this year.
