Fortnite Battle Royale brings a huge amount of different cosmetics, from massive collaborations with franchises like Invincible and Overwatch to free skins earned through quests and more. While skins are always neat, Fortnite also has a long line of emotes that players can use, ranging from iconic dances and songs to simple movements. However, some of these emotes are specifically used to taunt other players following an elimination, with some players looking to disable them if they wish. Luckily, this guide will go over how to disable Confrontational Emotes in Fortnite.

How to Disable Confrontational Emotes in Fortnite

See Confrontational Emotes is a setting that was added to Fortnite on April 23, 2024. This setting essentially allows players to disable a set of emotes performed by other players, either restricting them to only be used by their party members, or simply disabling them altogether.

To change your Confrontational Emote settings in Fortnite, do the following:

  • Open the Settings menu
  • Go to the Account and Privacy tab
  • Navigate the See Confrontational Emotes option in the Social Privacy section.

Once here, you can select one of three options, each of which controls the visibility of specific emotes. Here are the three See Confrontational Emote options in Fortnite:

  • From Anyone: Players will be able to see anyone perform Confrontational Emotes
  • From Friends in Party: Players will only be able to see their squad mates perform Confrontational Emotes
  • Never: Players won’t be able to see anyone perform Confrontational Emotes

There are hundreds of dances in Fortnite, and while some are goofy and promote sportsmanship, others can be used to provoke players mid-combat or to taunt them after eliminating them. Certain emotes are classed as Confrontational Emotes, and as such, depending on the options you selected above, these specific emotes will not be seen by the user.

Here are all the emotes that are hidden by the See Confrontational Emotes Setting:

  • Laugh It Up
  • Take the L
  • Whip Crack
  • Make It Plantain
  • Trophy Drop
  • Feel It

For players who have set up the See Confrontational Emotes to either From Friends in Party or Never, whenever someone performs one of the emotes mentioned above, the player will only see their character standing still, and they won’t see any movement or hear any sounds associated with the emote from specific players.

Remember, new Emotes are being added to the Confrontational Emote list as time goes on, so be sure to return to this guide at a later date to stay up to date with all of them.
