How To Grow Money Trees In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Are you hoping to grow Money Trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? These plants can easily help you amass tons of cash, enough to buy a bunch of furniture and other items. That said, you need to spend a few days on the island until you can get your rewards.

Find all of our guides on Nintendo’s beloved life sim, including those on the 3.0 update, in our Animal Crossing: New Horizons guides hub.

Where to find and plant Money Trees or Bell Trees

Money Trees, also known as Bell Trees, are far from natural fixtures on your island. Rather, they actually need to be planted, and you also need to wait until they’re fully grown.

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Every daily reset, at 5 a.m. local time, there will always be at least one shiny spot on your island. Dig this spot using any type of Shovel.
  • You’ll automatically receive a bag that contains 1,000 Bells. You can put this away so it can be added to your total cash in your inventory.
  • Next, click on the money in your inventory and create a separate bag that has an amount of cash. We recommend having a bag that has 10,000 Bells.
  • When you bury this in the shiny spot, you’ll notice that it turns into a sapling.
Bury some of your cash and reap the fruits of your labor.

How long does it take for Money Trees to grow?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Money Trees take four days–i.e. four daily resets–to grow from a sapling to a fully matured tree. After four days, you’ll see that the tree has bags of cash. Just shake it to claim your prizes. After doing so, the object will turn into a normal tree.

Note: If you want, you can use the “time travel” trick to speed up the process. Simply save and close the game. Then, go to your Nintendo Switch system settings and advance the date.

What amount should you bury in shiny spots?

As mentioned earlier, we suggest placing a bag that has 10,000 Bells in the shiny spots that you dig up:

  • An amount of 10,000 is almost always guaranteed to spawn a tree with three bags, which nets you 30,000 Bells. Higher amounts aren’t always guaranteed to be tripled.
  • Assuming you do this every day in each shiny spot you discover, then you should always have +20,000 Bells (net) once your trees have fully grown.

That does it for our guide on how to grow Money Trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Of course, this is just one way to make money fast in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
