How to Increase Your Home Storage in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has an extensive catalog of furniture, clothing, tools, and resources. As players progress further into the game, they will accumulate more items that they would like to keep. However, they will soon notice that they don’t have enough storage space to keep every single item in the game.

All Fossils in Animal Crossing New Horizons (& How Much They’re Worth)

Players can make tons of Bells by selling fossils in New Horizons – here are the best sets to find and sell.

This guide tells players how they can expand their home storage in Animal Crossing: New Horizons so they’re able to keep more tools, resources, clothes, and furniture.

How to Increase Home Storage in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

When players first upgrade their tent to a house, their storage space will be able to hold 80 items. It may seem like a lot, considering that they can only keep 20 items in their pockets before upgrading their inventory, but there are so many items in New Horizons that players will have no problem filling it up.

Home storage will gradually increase as players upgrade their house in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While living in a tent, players will have no storage at all. Once they upgrade it with 5,000 Nook Miles, they will get access to 80 storage slots. The number increases to 120 with the next home expansion and so on.

  • As players upgrade their house, their storage will continue to expand. Once they make their final payment after building the basement, they can continue to upgrade their storage. However, these expansions will get progressively more expensive.

Players can speak to Tom Nook about expanding their home or storage by approaching him at the counter in Resident Services and selecting the About my Home option.

How to Reach Maximum Storage Capacity in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Players can have a maximum storage capacity of 9,000 slots in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, to do this, they must fully upgrade their home and then purchase all six storage expansions. Here is how many storage spaces players will get for each expansion and how much they will have to pay for them.

While house upgrades are built first and the player can make the payment whenever they please, the storage upgrades that are available after the final expansion must be paid upfront. To pay off their final house loan, players must give Tom Nook 2,498,000 Bells, and if they want to further expand their storage, they must give him an additional 500,000 Bells upfront.

In total, gamers will have to spend over 12 million Bells to fully upgrade their home storage in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
