Incredible-Looking Platformer Eternal Life of Goldman Has a Demo You Can Play Right Now

Beautiful new platformer Eternal Life of Goldman has revealed that it’s demo is available today for Xbox and PC players. Originally announced in August 2024, Eternal Life of Goldman does not have a release date announced at the time of writing.

Goldman is one of the latest in a trend of gorgeously hand-drawn games, an aesthetic particularly prevalent in side-scrolling platformers. The incredibly popular Hollow Knight series is one of the first to come to mind in recent years, with the hand-crafted art style of the original game and its sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, setting a uniquely haunting tone that’s consistent throughout both adventures. Titles like Cuphead prove the versatility of this look, with its lighthearted, retro animation-inspired look instantly drawing players to the game. Even Disney Illusion Island, which sees Mickey Mouse and friends venturing across a vast Metroidvania-style landscape, utilizes an art style that strongly resembles the latest animated series starring Disney’s iconic mascot.

The Demo for Eternal Life of Goldman is Now Available

Stunning platformer Eternal Life of Goldman has released its latest demo via Steam and the Xbox and Windows Store. The new platformer, developed by Weappy Studio, had its latest trailer showcased during Xbox’s March 2026 Partner Preview showcase, where the game was also confirmed to be releasing on Xbox Game Pass on the day of its release. Goldman previously released a public demo during Steam’s Next Fest, with today’s newest demo serving as the first opportunity for console players to try out the new hand-drawn platformer. The title is also releasing on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

Set on a fantastic set of islands known as the Archipelago, Eternal Life of Goldman stars the titular Goldman, an older gentleman who wields a unique cane capable of being upgraded with new abilities and parts. Goldman will take on a variety of cleverly designed platforming challenges that require precision and practice to master, gaining new powers that will aid in his journey to defeat the mysterious being known as The Deity. Along the way, players will encounter creatures both fantastic and terrifying, all of which present unusual challenges as they hinder Goldman’s progress.

Eternal Life of Goldman is the latest in a string of unique day one Xbox Game Pass titles, and it’s primed to be one of the most distinct and lovely titles available through the service. The game utilizes “classic frame-by-frame techniques” to craft an aesthetic that stands out even among other hand-drawn titles. Combat centered around the main character’s cane is a system that will seem familiar to fans of Disney’s iconic Ducktales titles, which featured a similar play style for protagonist Scrooge McDuck. While this might not be the first title to feature an elderly protagonist who pogos enemies with his walking stick, it may very well be the darkest, with a terrifyingly beautiful atmosphere and truly unique enemy designs.
