A marketing deal between Sony and Take-Two for the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 may already be ready to go, according to a recent interview with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. However, Zelnick stated that any marketing deals between Take-Two and its corporate partners had no impact on the decision to make Grand Theft Auto 6 a console-exclusive title at launch.
The marketing rumors came amid a chaotic time for GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games, as the most anticipated game of 2026 is just over six months away from launch as of this writing. A recent review of Rockstar Games posted on Glassdoor accused the game developer of forcing harsh crunch conditions on GTA 6′s QA staff, with shifts that can allegedly last until 3:00 AM local time. Given that Glassdoor reviews are anonymous, any posts made there should be taken with a fine grain of salt. As of this writing, Grand Theft Auto 6 is still scheduled to release worldwide on Thursday, November 19.
GTA 6 Fans May Want to Circle May 21 on Their Calendars
Fans waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6 news may want to circle May 21 on their calendars, as Take-Two is set to host its next quarterly earnings call.
A Marketing Deal Between Sony and Take-Two Could Impact GTA 6
With GTA 6 marketing starting up later in the summer, Take-Two may already have a partner for its campaign push. According to a Bloomberg News interview during the Interactive Innovation Conference in Las Vegas, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that, while Rockstar Games has historically gone to console first when it comes to its game releases, GTA 6‘s console exclusivity is not related to a marketing deal between Take-Two and Sony Group Corp., the makers of the PlayStation brand. However, any marketing partnerships reached between Take-Two and other companies are unlikely to be publicly announced before any trailers or TV advertisements are aired.
But, given how impactful GTA 6‘s arrival will be on the gaming industry at large, the marketing plans that Take-Two and Sony could use to entice gamers into buying Rockstar’s upcoming title will have significant reach.Zelnick stated that he is “terrified” of GTA 6‘s arrival due to the lofty expectations placed on the game by Grand Theft Auto‘s millions of fans. But, Zelnick also remained optimistic about GTA 6 sticking the landing. Zelnick said, “If we do that, and if we’re of service to our customers, then the upside will take care of itself.”
Getting Into GTA 6 Will Be Expensive
Users who have not upgraded to a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S console and want to play GTA 6 on launch must be prepared to dole out some serious cash. Due to the ongoing DRAM shortage crisis affecting the costs of essential console components such as RAM and solid-state drives (SSDs), Sony and Microsoft have bumped up the price of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S console lineups. The cost of the PS5 Disc Drive Edition and Xbox Series X 1 TB Edition are currently $649 each, before taxes and fees are applied.

Additionally, financial analysts have stated Rockstar Games should price GTA 6 at $80 to help the gaming industry as development costs continue to rise. While Rockstar Games has not stated how much GTA 6 will cost once it reaches store shelves, the upcoming marketing push from Take-Two and its corporate partners should provide some clarity going into the summer.
