The next Nintendo Direct has been announced, and it will take place on June 30. During the latest showcase, the company pulled back the curtain on several games coming to Switch 2 over the next year. Previously announced games were also shown, including Star Fox and Rhythm Heaven Groove, but the stream also had several brand-new Nintendo announcements for viewers, including Nintendo Switch 2 editions for the Xenoblade Chronicles games.
Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a price increase in September, just over a year after the system’s release. The global RAM shortage has forced all video game and electronics companies to raise their prices, and Nintendo is no exception. Fans still have a few months until the new price kicks in, and Nintendo will likely be looking for ways to win over potential buyers. More presentations should happen as a result, not only to give some extra attention to upcoming games but also to show fans what they might be missing out on.
LEGO Donkey Kong is Now Official
LEGO confirms that sets based on the Donkey Kong franchise will be “rolling soon,” putting a spotlight on Nintendo’s big ape.
The Next Nintendo Direct Takes Place in June
Rather than a Nintendo Direct focused on multiple games, the next presentation on June 30 will focus exclusively on Splatoon Raiders. Splatoon Raiders will come to Switch 2 on July 23, so this will give Nintendo an opportunity to highlight the game and attract fans that might be on the fence. Splatoon has become a huge franchise for the company since the Wii U era, and the online multiplayer is a big part of its appeal. A presentation totally focused on the game could give viewers a better idea of what to expect and how it’s taking advantage of Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.

The Nintendo Direct isn’t the only promotion happening for Splatoon Raiders. A special Splatfest event based on the game has been announced and will take place in Splatoon 3. At this time, details are limited and it’s unclear what the breakdown will be for the teams. Regular updates for Splatoon 3 ended in 2024, but Nintendo has continued to support the game in various ways. It’s likely that a new numbered Splatoon game is currently in development for Switch 2, but nothing has been announced. At the very least, Splatoon Raiders should be a way to keep fans invested in the series until that time.
Splatoon Raiders seems to be getting a big push from Nintendo ahead of the game’s release in July. In addition to the Nintendo Direct and Splatfest, the company also announced a special pair of Joy-Con controllers based on the game. The controllers won’t deviate too much from the Joy-Con that come bundled with Switch 2, but they do include some yellow and blue accents meant to evoke the members of Deep Cut. Shiver, Frye, and Big Man are set to play a big role in Splatoon Raiders, and the Joy-Con will be released on the same day as the game.

While the next Nintendo Direct is already dated and set in stone, it’s likely that another will take place in the very near future. A remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was announced during the June 9 showcase, but Nintendo has shown very little of the game yet. The company plans on launching the remake before the end of 2026, but fans know nothing about it, including a release date. A Nintendo Direct focused on the remake and the overall Zelda series seems like a safe bet, especially since this year marks the 40th anniversary of the original game’s release. For now, fans will just have to wait and see what Nintendo has in store.
