It’s Official: The Next Silent Hill Game Now Has a Release Date

Konami has revealed a new trailer and additional details for Silent Hill: Townfall, which will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PC this fall. The long-running Silent Hill series has been around since 1999, and has built a passionate fan base through the years. While the series remained dormant for a while following the cancellation of Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills, Konami has released two entries over the last two years. As a result, Silent Hill has effectively become a yearly franchise, with several teams working to bring new games to multiple platforms.

In 2024, Konami and Bloober Team released a remake of Silent Hill 2, followed by Silent Hill f from NeoBards Entertainment in 2025. At this time, it’s unclear if Konami has plans to release another game in the series in 2027. A remake of the original Silent Hill is in development, but a release window has not been revealed just yet.

The Resident Evil Reboot Quietly Promises What Game Fans Have Wanted for Years

Resident Evil fans desperately want a movie that feels like the video games, and they might finally get it with the upcoming reboot.

When to Expect Silent Hill: Townfall

During a PlayStation State of Play, Konami revealed a new trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall, and the next entry in the series will arrive on September 24. In a break from tradition, Silent Hill: Townfall features a first-person perspective. Capcom has made a similar move with the Resident Evil series over the last few years, but it remains to be seen how Silent Hill fans will feel about the decision. The new trailer offers a closer look at the gameplay, and how developer Screen Burn Interactive is using the new perspective to build a sense of dread.

Thus far, details of Silent Hill: Townfall’s story have largely been kept under wraps. The game will follow protagonist Simon Ordell, who finds himself trying to survive in the fog-covered town of St. Amelia. While Silent Hill games largely taken place inside the same fictional town, the series has started to move away from the location. That will be the case for Silent Hill: Townfall, offering players a new area to explore, and mysteries to solve. Fans are wondering where Silent Hill will go next, but Konami remains tight-lipped.

From everything shown so far, Silent Hill: Townfall seems like a promising new entry. Konami has released multiple trailers, but each one has managed to keep a level of mystery, never telling potential players too much. Even with the game getting a big spotlight at the State of Play, there really isn’t a lot known about Simon’s background, or exactly what he’ll encounter. Chances are, players will have plenty of fearsome creatures to contend with as they make their way through St. Amelia, and the latest footage offers some disturbing glimpses.

In the modern era, it’s rare for video game franchises to see multiple major games released in a yearly fashion. Silent Hill has offered both quantity and quality, and the result has rejuvenated the series. It remains to be seen whether Konami will be able to deliver a third critically and commercially successful Silent Hill game in a row, but the series seems to be earning itself a new following that wasn’t around for the height of the franchise’s popularity.
