Jacob Elordi Would Be a Perfect Fit for One Video Game Movie Role

Hollywood star Jacob Elordi is at the height of his stardom at the moment, hot on the heels of his Oscar-nominated role in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Despite his popularity, Elordi has yet to dip his toes into the world of video game adaptations, for which there is one he would be perfect: Kingdom Hearts. While the actor may not seem like an obvious choice for a Kingdom Hearts adaptation, there is one character for whom he would be a great fit.

Elordi has starred in several major feature films over the last few years, including Priscilla, Saltburn, Frankenstein, and Wuthering Heights. He’s also among the leads of HBO’s Euphoria, which is currently airing its third season. Despite his body of work on screen, Elordi is a noted video game fan, recently confirming that his favorite video game series is Kingdom Hearts in an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused Podcast. This should automatically put him in contention for a role in any potential video game adaptation of the franchise in the future.

If Elordi were to take a role in Kingdom Hearts, it wouldn’t be as the main protagonist, Sora. He, as well as many of the characters in the Kingdom Hearts series, is a teenager during the games, so any faithful live-action adaptation would rule him out immediately. Elordi, though just 28 years old himself, would unfortunately be too old to play the role of Sora, and the same could be said of a character like Riku.

That said, Elordi would be an excellent fit for the role of Terra. The character, who first appeared in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and later returned in KH3, has a burdened personality with an imposing presence, which Elordi would be able to bring to the role. He’s around the right age to play Terra, too, making it a good fit in every respect. The only thing that could be an issue is that Terra only has limited appearances in the series, so it would depend on whether any future adaptation plans to use the character or not. But if it did, Elordi has to be in consideration.

There is a lot of value in having a big series fan involved in any video game adaptation. Perhaps the best previous example is Henry Cavill, who played Geralt in the first three seasons of Netflix’s Witcher adaptation. As a huge fan, Cavill was able to sneak in some content from the Witcher books into the show, making it more authentic for fans. The reality is that not everyone involved in a video game adaptation will be a huge fan themselves, so it’s important that some of them hold this kind of reverence. It should be noted that no official Kingdom Hearts movie adaptation has been announced at this point, so this is merely fun speculation about who Elordi could play if it ever came to fruition. The only thing that is concrete about the franchise is the existence of Kingdom Hearts 4, which was first announced over four years ago now.
